Gracious. I was doing the opposite of talking down to you by addressing you as mister. It's just faster than writing out Tallguy88 & to me it feels more sincere cause obviously that's not your real name. It's really common where I live for ppl to address strangers as mister or lady, & there's not disrespect to it. I get addressed as young lady all the time, & it's pretty rare for it to be meant as talking down to me. It would be different if somebody who actually knew my name addressed me that way. But now that I know you don't like it, I won't do it.![]()
Must be a cultural difference. Around here, people aren't usually referred to as just "mister". Mr Last Name is fine in appropriate situations. But just Mister or Lady sounds condescending. Sir or Ma'am would be fine. But I'm not old enough or respectable enough to be a sir.
Sorry if I misinterpreted you.
I think it would depend on the beach and what it's dress policy is. As long as it's clearly marked, then people can't be chided for dressing within the limits. Similarly, people wouldn't be able to say "I don't want to see that!" when they should have known what is allowed at that particular beach.Well I agree that is has to do with intent and knowledge and social situations. A bunch of ppl have already said here that most women who want the right to be topless are only wanting that right in the same settings where men have long had the right to be topless, like at the beach. The 1st few people to break from the norm can be scandalous, then it becomes the norm. 100 yrs ago it was scandalous for men to walk around on beaches topless. Everybody had to wear suits down to their knees. Now it's normal for men to be topless. Do you think it's scandalous for males to be topless at a beach? You said b4 that it's wrong to make others lustful & cause them to stumble. What about the fact that to many straight women & gay men, a man's chest can be just as sexually attractive as a lady's boobs? Do you think all beaches that don't allow girls & women to be topless should also not allow boys & men to be topless for the same principle?
Yep.
I'm not sure about publicly owned pools and beaches, but private beaches and pools can set whatever dress code they want, even if it is a double standard.
