Nietzche was a different sort for sure. He didn't like Darwin for one. He saw tt breeding mediocrity in principle.

But he was one like yourself. He saw religion for just another politic. You can make that case. Religion the opiate of the masses.

But even Nietzshe felt that there was something in us that should be championed. Humanity was struggling and needed a champion. And he was bound to find it. He is the example of all men who deny God. They then go off to design their own. Man is never free from his desires for God. He just refuses to accept any that he didn't find for himself.

You will worship yourself or money or some other god you find to your liking, maybe evolution and science.

One day something happened to Nietzshe. He saw a mule being beaten. He could have cared less about mules his entire life. But his humanity "broke". He had put up this wall that caved in because of a mere mule being beaten. and so he lost his mind.

Your old mule is being beaten right now. In time you will see it. Nietzshe thought nothing of the Lamb of God dieing on the cross for him. But a mule being beaten stopped him in his tracks. All his fears came crashing in. All he tried to hide from in himself appeared. All his strength dried up. His philosophies could not support the beating of one old animal in time.

It's not too late for you. You can still read about Nietzshe and his mule. Figure out what went wrong.

Well, I just don't see a need to use God to explain existence. I look around and I don't see evidence for God.

It's amazing how two people can look at the same world and interpret it so differently. Reminds me of the two astronauts looking out the space window. Theism, to me, seems almost axiomatic. I can't think of a scenario for existence without it. Acausality is simply irrational (to me) as is infinite regression if the universe had no beginning.

At any rate, what can I say? I hope your view eventually changes. I'm not sure at this point what I can offer.

I look for truth in observation, I don't see any compelling reason to believe. I don't see any NEED to believe. I'm asking what benefits could lure me to consider Christianity.
The whole world is looking at where it all began right now, with Jerusalem and Israel at the center..... 2500 years after Israel was destroyed and dispersed as a nation, it is back and surrouded by enemies, just as the Bible said it would be. History provides us great evidence of truth, yet cannot be proved with any method other than the record. The Bible is the best documented book in history, and is important to read, IMO,as I put it off for many years myself before actually reading it.
If you do not seek God or have never read the Bible, you would not also know that all these things have been foretold to happen by the prophets God sent.
Have you noticed that many very intelligent people do believe in God? Even many of the greatest scientists that have ever lived believed in God, and plenty do to this day, speaking of "intelligent design" that can be seen everywhere. God is seen in creation and He speaks to all of us with the most sophisticated language of all - LIFE. But do we listen? You are here asking because deep within you, the very atoms that God has knit together thatmake up you as a sentient being cry out, knowing their Maker.

I've been a non-believer my whole life. My parents are X-Xtians…

There’s no such thing as an “X-Christian”.

Let’s imagine that it’s a beautiful spring day and you walk to the park to eat your lunch under the shade of an old oak tree.

As you’re eating, watching the squirrels chase one another, listening to the giggling children as they play, a man in a wheel chair rolls up to you and says, “do you mind if I join you?”

“Of course not”, you say, “the more the merrier!”

So he pulls up alongside you, takes out his lunch and you begin to talk. After a while, the conversation turns to his wheel chair.

Awkwardly, you ask, “If you don’t mind my asking, how did you come to be in that wheel chair?”

“Oh, this thing?” he says with a laugh, “well, you see, about five years ago, I was crossing some railroad tracks and I was sure I could beat that train. I guess I was wrong. The train ran over me. Took off both legs and about 20” of intestine.”

You’re horrified. “That’s terrible!”, you say.

He looks at you with a reassuring smile and answers, “Oh, it’s OK. You see, I don’t believe in trains anymore.”

That’s insane, right? I mean, here the guy is, sitting right in front of you, two legs sheared off and a colostomy bag at his side to testify his encounter with the train.

The Bible tells us that when a person has an encounter with the Living God, there will be discernable, demonstrable evidence. Just as this man showed physical evidence, so will Christians show spiritual evidence and character traits that the Bible calls the “fruit of the Holy Spirit.”

There’s no such thing as an X-Christian. Either they’re showing the evidence, or they’re not.

Now, on with our show…

I simply don't need it. I'm perfectly content as is. So I was wondering if anyone could offer concrete reasons why I should even take a second glance at Christianity. How does it make THIS life better for me NOW in ways that atheism can't? I don't believe in the afterlife, so no amount of threatening my immortal soul will do any good.

This may sound a little odd, coming from someone who’s put so much of his life into evangelism. But I truly don’t think you should be pursuing this at this time. You seem to have a completely erroneous idea of what Christianity is all about.

If you believe that Christianity is about “making this life better”, then you’re probably barking up the wrong tree.

Jesus never promised anything would be better in this life. Just the opposite, in fact. He promised that we would face hardships and persecution for His sake, even to the point that we may be called to be tortured and die for Him. Jesus didn’t tell us to “die to self”, “take up our cross”, “lose your life for My sake”, etc, because He was preaching some sort of cheap, feel good, Joel Osteen nonsense.

If you’re just looking for something to make your life better, get a dog.

But as far as Christianity goes, wait until you’ve come to the horrifying realization that you’re a sinner who will stand in the court of a Holy and Righteous God. When you’re able to be like Isaiah, who became completely unglued when he saw his sinfulness in relation to God’s righteousness, then get back to me and I’ll be glad to help you.

Well, I just don't see a need to use God to explain existence. I look around and I don't see evidence for God.

My sweetheart, evidence of God is all around you. He put the stars in the sky, He makes the sun rise each morning, He clothed the flowers, He makes the wind blow, He gives us rain, He put the mountains in place, He made every creature on earth, etc, etc. If you want more evidence, read the bible, Matthew 24 (being one of many), which was written sooooo long ago, about what you see happening around you now. Wars, natural disasters, etc, and also much happening in the church (unfortunately you won't be able to see that, coz you don't believe). But you are aware of all the other things happening all around the world, and it was said it would happen, by Jesus Himself.

Jesus truly loves you, and He has made a way for you to come to Him.

In His grip

And please, don't quote Bible verses at me. Those...really don't help.

You ask how becoming a believer will make your life better here on earth.

Well, you feel good about yourself now, just wait till after you become a believer. Your self-esteem will be even higher as you experience your daily life as a Christian making Christian decisions. You will have a helper with you through out your life that will work in ways to strengthen you, thus giving you a special strength that you didn't have beforehand.

I don't believe in the afterlife, so no amount of threatening my immortal soul will do any good.

I find that my faith allows me to put a context onto a world without context, and a meaning to a meaningless existence.

This is not about frightening you into hell, because I do not believe in the rather primitive idea of hell as fire and brimstone. But I do believe that we create our own eternity here on earth, and carry it into the next world, and that it is only in the context of the next world that we can understand this one.

I am not sure if that helps or makes it even more confusing, but without my faith, I cannot see any purpose or meaning for anything. With it, everything has meaning.

Hello Deiphage :) ,

God is Love; God offers Peace, Joy, wholeness and a wonderful new life with Him through His son Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ has set us all FREE from all sin in our lives through His loving and gracious sacrifice at the Cross 2000 years ago, if we will just truthfully acknowledge it and walk out from the darkness and into His wonderful light.

I am grateful and eternally thankful for what Jesus did for us all at the Cross. There's no feeling like it in the whole world my friend than to be One in Love with the creator of this entire Universe. He is awesome

I appreciate you coming here seeking answers Deiphage.

Have a good day

God is LOVE

and i am glad you are here :) .

There is LOVE and Forgiveness at the Feet of JESUS.
