Why should I consider Christianity?

I've been a non-believer my whole life. My parents are X-Xtians and left me to find my own spiritual path...and I didn't. I simply don't need it. I'm perfectly content as is. So I was wondering if anyone could offer concrete reasons why I should even take a second glance at Christianity? How does it make THIS life better for me NOW in ways that atheism can't? I don't believe in the afterlife, so no amount of threatening my immortal soul will do any good.

And please, don't quote Bible verses at me. Those...really don't help.

Before I an answer these questions for you, you will have to understand, I am at a vast disadvantage as it stands right now, so I would need for you to answer the following questions for me, before I can hope to answer the question you have, as it stands, first I need to know what it is that you are really seeking, before I can provide it for you.

Could you tell me how Atheism has made your life good?

And if you are perfectly content.. can you tell me why you are asking me how to make your life better?

God Bless

Oh, I don't know if atheism has made my life good. I think my life is good, and I'm an atheist. My life isn't good because I'm an atheist.

And if you are perfectly content.. can you tell me why you are asking me how to make your life better?

Oh, I'm not. I'm just wondering how you think Christianity could make my life better.

What Key had asked you is spot on...

Before anyone can really offer an answer to you we have to assertain whether something has been "put onto your heart" to prompt you to ask such questions in the first place.

To explain, I came from a similar background to you, in that my father was an atheist (his mother was a Christian but as soon as he left home he wanted nothing more to do with it), my mother was/is a non practicing Christian. I was raised in a non believing home right up until I was about 26 years of age. I was very happy with my life and had never considered that I would need anything or anyone else. I'd never read the Bible and never really knew who God nor Jesus was outside of those Hollywood movies.

So onto the point of why Key asked what he did. If you're finding now, that it's as though you're "pre-occupied" (though not quite the word I'm looking for) with finding out about Christianity, then it might be that over time you will be "called back to the fold", so to speak. I'll be blunt though. Sometimes this happens, sometimes it doesn't. So if the purpose of your questions are purely for debate at this stage, then perhaps it's not time to explain why.

I jokingly say that I left a life of disbelief, "kicking and screaming", i.e. it was as though I was called out from my previous existence. I then had to find out about Christianity from ground zero.

If this is the preliminary stage that you may feel you're at, then I would say from my experience, that whilst my circumstances did not change in terms of what I went through, the biggest difference was how I was equipped to deal with those said circumstances. I can attest that I have observed a noticable difference which has been an improvement compared to my adult life as an atheist.

I hope that this helps and if you are genuinely seeking feel free to ask more.

Christianity has given my life meaning. I look back to before the time I got serious about religion, then I look at myself now. "Where would I be without Christ?" I ask myself. I honestly don't know, but I really don't want to find out. Christianity is satisfying. Hope this helps! :)

That is funny because faith comes by hearing the Word (Scripture).

This may sound simplistic, but you should consider Christianity in case atheism is wrong. It's not really about what makes you feel good or happy, rather it's about truth. The truth isn't always what we want it to be. I would not only advise you to take a second look at Christianity, but also take a second look at atheism. It's quite and irrational belief.

I look for truth in observation, I don't see any compelling reason to believe. I don't see any NEED to believe. I'm asking what benefits could lure me to consider Christianity.

do what brings you the richest life, and not money wise but quality of life. if you don't feel christianity is right for you then there is no reason to even try to believe it. i believe though that you do have to stand behind what you truly believe. there are alot of weak minded individuals on both sides of the fence, but they will all call themselves strong in whatever they believe. but really they are just regurgitating what stronger individuals have shoved down their throats. that is no way to be. challenge your own ideas as well as others and you'll find the path to a happier life.

The main benefit of Christianity is a reunified relationship with your Creator. The temporal benefits of this pale in comparison to the eternal.

You say you look for truth in observation. Just curious, can you expand on this?

if you are content, you are content. God gives us freedom to choose. He does want you to seek life, if death is fine with you, we are sorry to see you feel that way, but that is your personal life choice.

your parents are X-Xtians? does that mean Christians? or ? I have never seen that used to say christians. I hope they do stay in bible studies daily and follow Jesus, there are many New Testament warnings and His way is not easy, it is a narrow way, and "whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did," 1 John 2:6. I hope if your parents are christians (I'm not sure), they have tried showing you goodness, righteousness, mercy, love, as Jesus does.

I personally have taken life after death more seriously, after my son's dad threatened to kill me several times, I had police help to get away from him, he has been run over by a car from someone else when he was threatening someone else's life too, he had a metal rod put into his leg from that incident which almost killed him. That really got me thinking about what if I die, then what, a murderer wins. but that is my personal testimony. Jesus gives me hope. I'm praying for you, Jesus' way is not easy, and He was not a millionaire-selfish kind of blessing person, He just offers us life away from sins, which is not always easy, but it is good, and in the end worth the sacrifices, in my opinion.

Well, I just don't see a need to use God to explain existence. I look around and I don't see evidence for God.

You're in question to Christians by non-Christians, and you ask me to not quote Scripture?

Then WHY ASK!?!? =PPP

No...I mean, I've never been a Christian. I'm just wondering why you think I should consider it at all.

Love.

See Deiphage, it does not matter what you believe, believe in Santa, believe in the tooth fairy and Iggy the Magic Tree Elf, The world will want you to change.

Either your too fat, to skinny, have the wrong color eyes, need to work on your complexion, need to dress right, need to relax more, need to take things more serious, need to shut up and speak up, you need to work harder, you need to work less, you need more money, you need more time, you need to have a big house, a big car, a cat, dog, 3 kids, two divorces and current husband, you need to have more education, you need to dress better, no matter what you are, you are not right in the world, you eyes are not good enough, your hearing is not good enough, you might have any disability and that is just less then perfect and that is a problem for the world.

No matter what you are, you will always need to change something to fit in, to be correct, you are not correct by the world, there is always something you are missing, there is always something you need to do.

Well... Jesus said....

"You.... Just as you are.. no matter what your fault, no matter what type of car you have, no matter what you weight, or make, You just as you are today.. before me....

"I find you so precious, so important, so perfect in my eyes.. that you are worth dieing for"

God Bless
