Hi everyone.
One look at the variety of people in this forum shows us that there are multiple ways of interpreting the Bible and the messages it contains. Many tend to put this down to how a person has been brought to Christianity, the church they attend, how they approach the Bible's literary structure or a number of other different reasons. The 'human side' of this phenomenon is not what my question is about.
Instead my question is why this occurs when taken in light of the fact that, from my understanding, every Christian (and indeed non-Christian) has access to God through prayer. Why is it that so many people can have so many different opinions on fundamental parts of the Bible in light of the contact between the believer and God? After all, not all these differing approaches, many of them contradictory, can be correct, so why does God allow this confusion and contradiction, which in many cases weakens the 'case' of Christianity to non-believers, to continue?
Thanks for your time
