Communism is usually not seen as evil as the other.

And some communitites have lived 'communism' without harming or oppressing any others.
That is not true. There has never been a peaceful communist regime. There may have been more moderate ones just like there were more moderate fascist regimes (Nationalist Spain).

True.

At the end of the day, Communism looks to power, where democracy looks to rule of law.

Communism kills. It's designed to do so.

Probably because Communism promises to the masses on the bottom (i.e. the proletariat) to level the economic playing field (supposedly) for "everyone" by throwing the bourgeoisie out of power.

Nazism, on the other hand, promises to take over for the benefit of the nation and to cleanse the earth of those parasitic undesirables who live at "the bottom" of society.

Of course, both Communism and Nazism are made up mostly of lies either way....with just enough bits of economic and/or political truth to tempt those who would hopefully know better, but often don't.

p.s. ....and then there's Democracy, which is only as good as the spiritual/character quality of it's defining majority at any given time.

Peace,

man...it's always surprising how short the memories are here in America. When I was a kid (and for decades before that) there wasn't anything worse then being called/thought of as a communist. Peoples lives/careers were destroyed over just attending a communist party meeting in their youth. :sigh:

Incorrect. The Most Serene Republic of San Marino was governed by a Communist/Socialist coalition between 1945 and 1957. I believe it was the only case of Communists being elected into power. The Communist party in San Marino later dissolved itself.

What happened after only 12 years?

My understanding is that there was an even split in the government so a new election was not called. A provisional government was instead formed in response to the constitutional crisis which organized a new election.

BTW I understand that Abraham Lincoln was named an honorary citizen of San Marino during his lifetime. It is the world's oldest surviving republic.

Because in today's uneducated SJW snowflake society communism = free stuff, and nazism = everything else.

Both the Nazis in Germany and the Communists in the Soviet Union and China were evil. Both killed millions of people. But the way the Nazis did it--the gold stars and pink triangles, the death camps, the showers, the crematoriums--just seems far more horrible.

I am abundantly aware of the history. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't.

I know of no time in my lifetime when being called a Communist was worse than being called a Nazi. As Nazi Party meetings and people openly promoting Naziism were a bit more rare than Communist Party meetings and people openly promoting Communism in the US, I think perhaps your experiece of a much larger anti Communist sentiment may have been due to the lack of Nazis more than a general greater distaste for Communists.

Probably because a true communistic society has never actually existed and actually could work in an ideal world where people are motivated by more than money. Also, communism is based on the principle of leveling the playing field and equality. This is opposed to Nazism as there has been true Nazi societies in the world, and some of the founding principles of it are racial and national superiority and hatred of others outside of your group.

A true communist society requires human beings to become something they are not. It is not just that people need to not be motivated by money. In communist utopia nobody requires any motivation of any kind. Everyone works for the benefit of all and no one becomes resentful if they see themselves doing more than others. That is the basic fallacy of communism i.e. believing that people are not competitive and never take advantage of others. The communist story of the Little Red Hen ends with the Little Red Hen telling her comrades how delighted she is to give them all the fruits of her labor while she receives nothing from them in return. In reality communism ( as opposed to fantasy communism which some call real communism.) brute force is the motivator for all.
