  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It also never says that the bishop of Rome is a Pope. You do nevertheless believe him to be so, don't you? And it never says that any Apostle or bishop is to have universal jurisdiction over Christ's Church. You do nevertheless believe that to be Christ's intent, do you not? The Bible never mentions Purgatory or Indulgences or the Assumption of Mary.
.

It sounds like we agree that the Bible never teaches that the Bible alone is the Word of God.

Then mightn't the doctrines you refer to be supported by a unity of the written and oral traditions (2 Thes 2:15)?

Also, I'm not conceding the oral tradition that Catholicism relies on oral traditions more than Protestantism. I think that Protestant absolutely insists on numerous oral traditions, including the oral tradition that 2 Thes 2:15 is no longer living and active, or--for example--that Purgatory (1 Cor 4:15) is not-Biblical
