Why is this not being taught in Church?

The sons of Jacob were 12: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Joseph and Benjamin. (Genesis 35). Notice Ephraim and Manasseh are not in this list. They were sons of Joseph.

However, Genesis 48 tells us that Jacob "claims" Ephraim and Manasseh to be his SONS. And they both are alotted geographical areas in the promised land, as well as being consistently referred to as TRIBES of Israel. Levi, as the TRIBE of priests did not get an area allocated ... but they are most often thought of as one of the TRIBES of Israel, as Rhem obviously agrees. Whether or not their "portion of land" was subsumed under Judah's they are still regarded as a TRIBE of Isreal.

The TRIBES of Israel were: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim, Manasseh and Benjamin ... which together add up to 13.

[There are quite a few later references to "the TRIBES of Joseph" in the OT. Almost always in the plural as far as I can see. Joshua 14.4 - Joseph’s descendants had become two TRIBES—Manasseh and Ephraim." See also Joshua 17:17, 18:11; Judges 1:22, 35; 2 Sam 19:20; 1 Kings 11:28; Amos 5:6; Zech 10:6. Ezekiel 37:19 seems to indicate an amalgamation of tribes into 1, but Ezekiel 47:13 still has 12 tribes having boundaries, but Joseph getting two portions. This suggests that Levi would also get its own "boundaries" though this is not explicit.]

Zechariah 14:12 does not solve (or even address) this "mismatch." My question was originally: what were the 12 TRIBES of Israel that the apostles were to rule over ... since there are 13 listed. Were the levites, for example, excluded because of their role as priests, or how was this supposed to work? Which 12 tribes will have their names on the gates of the future city described in Revelation 21?

Charlie24 doesn't seem to agree that Levi was counted as a Tribe. Certainly, he is listed in Genesis 49.
Which other 11 - as the list above shows there are 12 others. It may be that in certain contexts Ephraim and Manasseh are collectively subsumed within the "tribe of Joseph" rather than separately. Are there different Hebrew words for "tribe" used in different contexts? (I don't read Hebrew.)

Any thoughts?

Thank you the education. Jesus said 12 judging

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Yes. Back to my question again... Which 12? since counting all those that are called tribes of Israel in the OT comes to 13.

Jesus was a minister of the Circumcision

the Jews:Acts 3:25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant

the Christians: strangers from the covenants of promise

Jesus commanded them: Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Take that verse you quote here in the context of which it was given: A training exercise for unskilled apprentice Disciples who were not ready for being pitched out into "The Big World"....

When equipping people for ministry - it is critical to work through the Learning Curve with "Friendly" people who will work with them and help encourage them to continue than crushing them straight into dust. That's what Jesus was doing in this specific instance - sending them out for a challenge/learning experience with otherwise friendly people.

An example of this at church... We start a new apprentice sunday school teacher off in an established class with another skilled leader as "Training wheels"... The group is sympathetic and generally works to help work through the bugs and learning curve - rather than labelling him as a heretic/blasphemer and destroying him.... Then we work through a progression of more and more advanced learning and challenges until they are basically ready to start something from scratch and grow it.

Matthew Mark Luke and John

A major part of Christians in the U.S. base there belief in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Their whole premise and doctrinal belief is in the 2nd chapter of Acts:

The Day of Pentecost.

I dare say over 90% of American churches teach this, endlessly.

So are they Jews or members of the Body Of Christ?

Acts 3:25 says these are the Jews. ..

25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

Their statement of Faith is John 3:16.

Ephesian 2:
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Romans 7:4
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:27
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

I am of the uncircumcised

They are blind to the Power of the Cross This is for me;

I thank God I am excepted in the Body of Christ.

Where do you want to be. You have a choice

Churches have done a disservice to Christians by teaching the wrong thing.
it is not easy to undo what they have done. but keep asking questions

Acts 21:20 James said there are thousand who are zealous for the Law

The Law nullifies grace. therefore you cannot follow the Law and be saved by grace.

this is for Jews
When you study the first 4 Gospels Jew, believers, are based from Peter's confession.

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
but they did not turn from the Law

This is for Christians
Paul teaches The body of Christ, The cross the power of God to salvation and saved by grace through faith

please read my last 3 post and if you still have questions ask

Paul:
1st Cor.: 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

I know it is very confusing. I'll do my best to clear it up.

A thought going round in my head - the words of Jesus “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” Matt 5.17
Doesn’t the word law in the bible mean teachings.
I fully realise only Jesus is able to obey the Law completely.
From our
Point of view as christians its a schoolmaster to lead us to Him
