  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"Thou shalt not kill" is one of the commandments supposedly given to Moses by the biblical god, yet kill is exactly what this same god told its followers to do to the Canaanites and the Amalekites. Kill every last one of them, even the women and children.
Perhaps you don't consider genocide as killing?

They had it coming.

Who told who to kill anyone ? Who told who to murder anyone ?
Who knows the difference ?
To answer your first question it was the god of the bible who told his followers to kill
and the same applies to your second question.
If you don't know the difference ask yourself if you think it's ok, even in a state of war, to deliberately target children and infants to be put to the sword.

Now you are talking more like the way I have come to expect Christians to talk when it comes to violence instigated by the biblical god.

When all one has to look forward to is a wasting painful death why should they be compelled to endure that if they don’t wish to?
Because Jesus did perhaps and set the example for us. And He was innocent.

Where did I say that I know everyone deserves death? Not making stuff up would be a start for you!
Everyone does, according to my Bible. All those you mentioned were worthy of it which you would know if you read and studied your Bible. As for the Holocaust, God didn't tell the Nazis to kill the Jews, Hitler did.

The Christ story is sufficient reason to make people suffer wasting deaths at gun point?

The Amalekites brought it on themselves.

Deuteronomy 25:17-18

17 "Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

18 How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God."

How was an infant worthy of being put to the sword. Is that the sort of thing you would be capable of?
I don't know why you mentioned the Holocaust, but seeing as you did, the way your mind appears to work you would have been welcomed by the Nazis. They believed the Jews deserved to die, men women, children and infants.
Not blaming your god for the Holocaust, although it would be true to say that it didn't raise an omnipotent finger to help its chosen people. Six million deaths is a terrible body count.

The next time you iron some clothes or cook, stick your hand on the hottest part. And note that you’ll react before you can think . I’m quite sure those jumpers waited until they couldn’t take it any more.

As I’ve stated, I live in NYC . A building caught fire next to the LIRR train tracks near Jamaica station . Eight tracks and we were on track 1 completely away from the side the fire was on. Every one on that side of the train got up and moved to the other side because the side facing the fire was so hot. I no longer think fires are like they show in the movies.

(Because I live here I couldn’t watch those 9-11 videos for over 10 years . You could see and smell the world trade building burning from that same LIRR train station in Jamaica, Queens . Look on a map to see how far away that is)
I grew up in NYC (long gone before 911 although visiting two weeks before with my children and in the WTC). I believe that trust in God no matter what the circumstances is imperative. I can think back to when we on the upper floors (where all the restaurants are) and all the people who were working there probably lost their lives. This was not God who caused this horrific event, but was men (those Islamic terrorists who did) although I suppose that some would choose to blame God for not stopping it. It's really a miracle that more damage wasn't done.

I don't know that answer to that question, do you? I do know that God is all wise and all just and I also know that you and I aren't.

I already said, that it was Hitler that put the Jews to death and not God. Whatever makes you think that I would get along with Nazi's I can't quite comprehend, especially since I have some Jewish ancestry in my blood. And as whether God not raising a finger, how many total Jews were in Germany at the time of the holocaust and there were some survivors btw? ~900,000. I guess He did lift a finger.
https://www.historiography-project.com/misc/19970901survivors.php

https://rense.com//general79/hoilsurv.htm
I think this number will surprise some people who have been trained to believe that the Nazis killed almost every Jew in Europe except for the relatively few who escaped to Israel.
Maybe He lifted at least a little pinky.
You're one who mentioned the holocaust so I was just responding.

It's people (not God) who are pointing the guns. When we look at what Christ had to suffer for our sakes, although not pleasant, then we should be able to bear whatever it is we might have to go through and with faith and trust in God and His word, we can.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Yet you would have them do so based on how much your Christ was tortured in your religious stories as that somehow disallows others the right to make choices about their own death.

No, of course not. But they would do it anyway.
