Why is Hell permanent?

um, no thanx, if thats the heaven i had to look forward to, id rather not.
when i envision heaven, watching people cry out in agony is not my idea of heavenly entertainment.. to me, that kind of heaven sounds just as bad as hell.

the more you write, the more it sounds like you are really looking forward to watching this.....why is that....does it make you feel love, mercy and justice?

why would He say this?, cause thats exactly what Hes going to do. i know you think God just goes around making idle threats, i dont.
in fact, this verse only bolsters my belief that eternal hellfire is mythical.
so you think that God said this to make people, what, scared? whats more scary than the threat of being burned alive for all eternity?!

and btw, this would be considered a warning for us now, on earth, prior to death, not after it. now if it said something like......'do not fear those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul, but fear Hiim who will eternally torture, or torment, as you like to put it, in a fiery hell for as long as eternity lasts.......then you would have a verse that at least coincides with your mythological hellfire doctrine. this verse totally contradicts that. it doesnt say that. it says He can destroy both body and soul.

if i tell you i can run 1 mile in under 10 minutes, does that mean i wont do it? your understanding of this verse is illogical. no it doesnt say He will do it, but where do you get from it that He wont? hint......your assuming, and for one who professes to be such an expert at bible interpetation, and debating, ummmmmm.....you assume things, gothca

Doesn't that just sound like God, the best at what He does? What if He just killed humans for sinning. Thats not the best! We do that every day with capital punishment! We are as just as God is! If that was the case, but it's not. God burns with Holy Fire. We can't do that.

This is opinion, it takes more than a one line opinion for readers to know why you believe something.

"Adam and Eve" got booted from "Edan" essentially for learning the difference between good and evil. If we as their children, no longer know the difference, why are we still here?

Is God a God of Justice, or is He a God of Mercy? They don't go hand in hand. Is God a hypocrite, who says "Do as I say, not as I do?".

Perhaps "Eternity" is not long enough for God to purify a soul?

If they get into heaven/cease to exist or whatever, then how can the wrath of God abide on them?

I know enough to be able to say "I don't know". I know who wrote what when and why. God may have inspired, but the hand of man is still from the earth. That I don't want to share my tiny piece of heaven with an axe murderer is a given---no one wants to keep one eye open for eternity. However, I am certain there is a better disposition for the looney than setting him on fire. I am also certain that God is smart enough to figure it out.

I'm glad that you believe what the bible says. That verse says that those who believe on the Son have everlasting life. Do you believe that those who believeth not on the Son ALSO have eternal life being tortured in hell? The bible doesn't say that. That verse says that he that believeth not on the Son shall not see life. That is what I've been saying.

You don't know the nature of God, unless you look at Jesus. How many men did Jesus kill? How many Men did Jesus curse? Who did He condemn? Who did He save?
