Lynn, I guess if you do not feel that people are not resposible for anything they do then you cannot understand this. I do not think that you believe this however. Do you feel that you should make right if you have offended someone? Sin offends God. I think that people opposed to the notion of purgatory do not make a distinction between forgiveness and repayment. Do you think that a serious criminal should not be put in jail? Does the suffering of Jesus allow for him/her to go free?
I guess it's just as hard for you to understand the non-Catbolic view of it as it is for some of us to understand yours. I don't look on eternity the same as we look at things here on earth. Yes, I think criminals should be put in jail and I get what you're saying about being forgiven for breaking a window but still having to pay for a new window. I believe Jesus death for me takes care of all of that. He atoned for or paid for all my sins. He took all the punishment due me, made the whole payment, reparation, atoned for...whatever word you want to use. He paid for the broken window, so to speak. So there's no reason for me to pay for it, He's already done what's necessary for me to be forgiven for it and He's paid for it. These links may help you understand the non-Catholic view of it:

The apostle Paul said that he was willing to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. No period of suffering in some place called Purgatory. He knew he was going straight to be with the Lord.

I don't imagine we can ever agree on the subject but at least we might have more understanding of the whys of each other's view. Peace.

I'd just like to say that if you want the Catholic perspective, do not read this. It is a misunderstanding of the Catholic perspective.

The other site listed, does a good job of the showing the Catholic view. But the link above does not.

LOL. Not trying to hide anything, except for misinformation and theories which I don't believe in :)
Aaahhh. So you are saying you would try to hide theories you don't believe in huh? ;)

Actually I was just kind of curious about the response in myself that your post produced. It was sort of like "the fruit of all the trees but that one? What's so special about that one I wonder?"

Man I'm glad God saved me, cause I sure would have never made it on my own!

Being a convert from Protestantism, I understand the non-Catholic version (I know you weren't talking to me, but I thought I'd add my $0.02.)
