I've crossed a few Lutherans since I've been here. :p
some of these threads, especially the Congregationally 'sensitive' ones, have been an eye-opener, and have taught me why the body of Christ is so 'divided', over silly things (some not so silly certainly) that gets us no closer to being 'transformed' into His likeness, but only exacerbates the process. so here we are, 'more than conquerors', still clinging to the security blanket of 'tradition'. and this is the church Jesus died for, "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people?"

'denominations' have become the 'gangs' of His Kingdom! Catholics cross this way, Eastern Orthodox that way, 'turf' wars over proselytizing, Holy Spirit We Got Spirit How 'Bout You? isn't this just foolishness? we seek to establish ourselves as His Church, but we're doing it at the expense of each other. if we are 'truly' His brothers & sisters we can't continue doing this if we truly desire the body of Christ 'unified' under His 'headship'. and as mutilated as the body of Christ is, it's a wonder that the Spirit still 'breathes'.

I hope you aren't suggesting throwing away the teachings just for the sake of harmony?
That's the feeling I'm getting from that post. It seems that harmony is more important than proper teaching for some people. Such people usually wind up as ND's.

Why is there such hatred of anything traditional in the church, be it Prayer, Creeds, Liturgy or Doctrine? What is this need for constant progressiveness?

What about God being never-changing and our due reverence is missed by some? Just what is it that needs to be modernized about God to make Him more universally appealing?

Some of us are moved by the Holy Spirit to show due reverence to God in a state of humility, recognizing our sinful nature, with occassional outward signs of remembrance of our Baptism, in the name of the Trinity, by making the sign of the cross. What of it?

Do you beat your chest in shame instead or is that beneath such a modern believer? How about prostrating before the altar or praying on your knees morning and night? I suppose we're out of line with modern thinking for doing any of that, too, according to your logic.

Just why would Jesus make the sign of the cross anyway?

Why do you call yourself a Christian when Jesus didn't call himself one?

Aye, yai, yai. Me 'eds dun in.

I think one reason is because all that stuff is considered Catholic, and to most people anything Catholic is automatically bad, but they aren't really sure why.
