• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why would you need to go down 12 miles?

Because one should know what one is talking about WHERE one is talking about it...in this case in the core of the earth...not half way to the sky!

Well, here we go. You simply dispute what I say, despite good evidence that I have provided with arm-waving.
Mentioning a story that the moon was once molten is not good evidence...you kidding??

Now get over this God thing as an excuse why you don't need to solidly substantiate what you claim here. You want us to take it simply by blind faith!!? Get a grip man.

Does anyone else notice what they forgot to add to their CGI?

They're doing CGI in real time live photos? That's pretty impressive.

Please, please tell me you aren't going to say "no stars." If you are, here's an experiment for you:

Get a decent camera with a telephoto lens. Wait until there's half moon or so. Wait till it's high in the sky with some stars near it. Get a shot of the moon so that it is nicely exposed with no blown out areas, and not much detail in the shadow.

In the image look for the stars. Gone.

Good news! I'm not going to say "no stars". :) But ... Where is the moon in this alleged 2-week time lapse? The moon is missing.

Oh, well, at least they remembered to program in moving clouds this time.

I provided my evidence, now it's your turn to provide yours. You said that God did it (paraphrased), but haven't yet given me any objective evidence that there is a God. If you can provide me with objective evicence that there is a God, then it'll be my turn to provide some evidence and I'll give you more evidence, e.g. that the moon has been molten in the past. Deal?

He does that all the time. We need to occasionally point out his ideas are empty and that's all we need to do.

I was under the impression that you only had dogmatic beliefs, not questions.
A simple google will show they think it goes as deep as a few hundred miles or so e such if I recall. Beyond that, they depend on sound waves mostly I think.

Another mainstream "proof" (allegedly from Japan's space agency's "satellite" Himawari-8) that the Earth is spherical and rotating:

Does anyone else notice what they forgot to add to their CGI? ;)
The satellite is INSIDE the moon's orbit....not outside the moon's orbit. Therefore it is entirely possible to go 2 weeks and not see the moon especially since the image is focused on earth and not the solar system...not to mention other things such as the orbit of the satellite in perspective of the moon. May the Lord God help you in your understanding....

No, it isn't. The image is pretty tight on the earth. The geosynchronous satellite is in an equatorial orbit. And the moon's orbit is inclined by 20 degrees or so from the equator. We should not expect the moon to come into the field of view any more often than a lunar eclipse.

So you do not believe that the moon would ever be seen on the far side of the earth at all, within the view of the "satellite", in the period of two weeks?

Not a single glimpse of the moon, in two weeks, eh? Sorry, I don't buy it.

I don't know why, but this thread reminds me of my Tilt-a-Whirl Challenge:

The Tilt-a-Whirl,™ a product of intelligent design, uses chaotic motion to perform its function.

Demonstrate how God could have done the same, but didn't.

As I said, I'm prepared to back that up with further objective evicence once it's my turn.

You provided an argument based on the existence of God. I asked you to provide objective evidence that God exists (since you are using God in your scientific argument). I'll provide more specific objective evidence of a once-molten moon once you do your bit and give me objective evidence of God.

Otherwise we're in the typical discussion situation where one side is expected to provide all the evidence, and does so, while the other side just never-endingly insists on more and more evidence without providing any of their own.

If you feel that your description of how the earth came to be spinning - i.e. that God did it - should be taken seriously then can you please provide your objective evidence that there is actually a God.

So you think none of the natural processes in the universe are chaotic?

Who is "they"?

What is "it"?

So, we are supposed to depend on your "recall" as real evidence?

"I think"....thanks for the scientific evidence.

'
Magma forms far deeper than geologists previously thought, according to new research results.

A team led by geologist Rajdeep Dasgupta of Rice University put very small samples of peridotite, rock derived from Earth's mantle, under high pressures in a laboratory.

The scientists found that the rock can and does liquify, at least in small amounts, at pressures equivalent to those found as deep as 250 kilometers down in the mantle beneath the ocean floor."
