If science were equipped to make such claims, beyond the scope of what can be proven with the scientific method, we could take these claims seriously. But it is perfectly possible that God simply created things as we see them now and damaged them at the fall and flood in such a way that the Book of Nature is essentially unreadable regarding the original dates.

Is there anything profitable in that kind of speculation?

The science of origins is entirely speculative, I am happy to take God at his word. It makes me unpopular, to be honest about this. But there is a host of reasons why it better honors God as Creator.

Most Biblical scholars say the Earth is about 6,000 years old....
Just the opposite is true. Few do. Standard Evangelical commentaries and reference works make no such claim.
Genealogies do not tell us the age of Earth. They are only disputed evidence for the age of Man.

I think the claim that most Biblical scholars argue that the earth is only 6,000 years old to be false.
The modern Earth, what what we call civilization is 6,000 years old. Bishop Usshers book is accurate because he does not talk about anything that happened more than 6,000 years ago.
