Because unfortunately there are still people in this world who are just as moronic as he is.

Anyone who utters such rediculous nonsense is a moron.
Nonsense or not, it is his right to say stuff like this. Are you afraid that he can incite God to bring about a natural disaster?

You know... I am not as incensed by this as some of you others. It's not like the man has any POWER to bring a natural disaster on or like he can incite somebody to cause one. The voters of Dover, PA exercised their constitutional rights, and all of us have a constitutional right to exercise our freedom and prerogative to comment on their preference for worldly philosophies and public popularity.

no. He just invites the world to look at ALL christians as bigoted, maniacal crackpots, just like he is. (You DO realize that they are looking for the "worst case scenario" to justfiy their rejection of christianity, don't you?)

I don't believe I directly touched on whether or not Pat SHOULD have made those comments. Frankly, they were silly to my ear, but that doesn't necessarily mean he did not have a valid point. What was sillier to ME was the obvious and shallow desperation of the citizens of Dover to appear suave and sophisticated by worldly standards. They had the right to vote in school board members steeped in all the latest urbane, postmodern philosophies, but the rest of the country and world has the right to comment on that choice as it sees fit.

There's no difference between the Dover voters and a 21-year old basketball enthusiast who proceeds to buy the fanciest, most expensive martini there is at the arena bar in a crowd of his friends.

Whose fault does the Bible say this is? I believe that it says the unbeliever is still responsible for his unbelief, not Pat Robertson who clearly believes.

believes what, exactly? That feminism automatically leads to lesbianism? (note: I don't believe that feminism is beneficial.) that the hurricane Katrina was judgement on sinful sinful new orleans? (should have swung by nevada while it was at it.) the list goes on and on. I'm not questioning his belief, I'm questioning his judgement.

This isn't about whether ALL of Rev. Robertson's beliefs are correct. It isn't even about whether his comments on Dover were the wisest. Everyone makes mistakes and overreacts in their speech. Why was Robertson's possible prediction of what may happen to Dover condemned much more harshly than:

--the president of Iran's stated desire to see Israel wiped off the face of the earth?
--the constant threats and intimidations made by union leaders in California this fall in their anti-Schwarzenegger campaign?
--rapper Kanye West's declaration that Bush doesn't care about black people?

I found Pat's comments about Dover to be FUNNY. I am not going to say they were WRONG, because who knows--God might indeed judge them for doing that, it's not like we can ever say "never". That said, like I have said before, I consider the voters of Dover to be whiny high school kids desperate to fit in with the popular crowd. They got embarrassed by their school board, which was doing its educational job by arguing that all major theories of origins ought to be presented, in full, to its student body. They didn't want to be considered hicks in a podunk town, so they made a willful choice to discard the truth in favor of representatives that would portray them in the glitzy and hip light that they so desired.

There have been quite a few 1.1b Rule violations removed from this thread over the last few days, and there are more remaining.

Whether we like or dislike Robertson, I don't see this thread as being productive and it will remain closed.
