If you mean they used trial and observation.....that's really not a new thing.
The scriptures hit on that topic a lot.

Once again the 'creationists' (or should I say 'genre-mistake-ists') come out to play. They have caused untold angst and confusion and embarrassment to the gospel over their literal reading of what is effectively a poem or song about how wonderful the world is, and that God put the fish in the sea and birds in the air and people on the land.

Remember guys and gals, Chapters 1 and 2 of Genesis contradict each other (hint! hint!) and other creation narratives in the bible do things slightly differently (hint! hint!) and about 2000 years ago, a Jewish thinker named Philo was troubled that it good an infinite, all-powerful God 6 whole days to make everything! Why not the blink of an eye!? (hint! hint!)
Genesis 1: the song that split Christians into genre-recognisers and genre-despisers.

There is no contradiction at all in the Bible. If you have the Holy Spirit of God he will lead you into the truth and you will understand what you are reading.

I think soon we will see that that our universe is teaming with life, and there is bountiful intelligence out there beyond our own that is not necessarily "man like". We have already proven evolution exists at the micro level (bacteria developing immunity to antibiotics), just not over a period of time (monkeys to humans, fish to mammals). I just hope we don't have a Destruction Story (revelations) take place, because I think we will soon find that evolution is going to go on without us, and maybe God will have reason to be disappointed that humans got stuck on old, outdated religious texts, instead of evolving/growing in our beliefs and interpretations as we use our God given intelligence to learn more, grow and prosper.

Well said I have long believed that Creation and Evolution go hand in hand and are not opposed to each other, what better way to show the handywork of the Lord than in the record of the earth !
God created time and lives outside of it....we lower beings have much to learn about the true Glory of God...we will in time...his good time.

Sorry, but evolution in its "true" atheistic sense, has no room for the concept of "creation" as espoused by creationists.
Ask a true evolutionist (e.g. Stephen Hawking) and listen carefully to their reply.

There are so many misconceptions and errors in the comments in this thread that I do not know where to begin.

I was appalled, but not surprised, to read that someone thinks that WE (meaning ALL of us) accept evolution because
it is (somehow) supported by science. Well, it is certainly supported by the majority of scientists, but science is not
based on majority opinion. The truth cannot be "legislated" or "democratically elected".

To keep my somewhat lengthy reply briefer than I want, I will say this. I will accept the concept of evolution
(that's macro-evolution for those of you keeping score), when scientists can explain the following WITHOUT making
any ASSUMPTIONS (the absolute key word in all of this).

1. how life came from non-life
2. how sexual reproduction came about
3. how the Earth has to be very old (i.e. billions of years)

It is no wonder that so many people are anti-religion when the major leaders (e.g. the Pope) accept evolution
as God's "way". They really don't take the POWER of the Creator seriously. (Never mind the atrocities that are
and have been committed in the name of religion.)

Sometimes I wish I didn't have the love of science that I do. My undergraduate degree was in geology.

Please keep this in mind. No one KNOWS how old the Earth, Solar System and Universe are. No one human, that is.

Take a look at your body. It is beyond all probability that it came about by CHANCE. We are here by DESIGN!

I could go on and on but I have to stop. I could not believe in the Bible and in evolution at the same time. The entire scenario of when things were created is completely opposite of the evolutionary myth. Study stellar evolution, geologic evolution and biological evolution and the entire Geologic column of when things were supposedly evolved and then study Genesis 1 and write them down. You will be amazed that they are complete opposites.

I became a 'born-again' believer in a religious vacuum. It was me, the Bible and the Holy Spirit for five years of teaching without man's influence. That was more than 35 years ago.

It never occurred to me that the creation account in Genesis was a literal 6 day event.

When evolution was presented to me in high school I was able to fit in my understanding of God being the Creator.

However, evolution seemed to be contradictory to observation and posed more questions than it answered. With closer scrutiny the theory of evolution fell apart.

Here is what I am left with after 4 decades of inquiry:

The Bible tells us THAT God created everything but not HOW.

Evolution is the greatest joke ever perpetrated on humankind. (to date...i.e. more to come)

Single common ancestor evolution is a direct replacement for God's special creation. Making the Bible fit with evolution requires negating the central message of the whole OT, which is that man sinned and by his own efforts cannot be reconciled to God. Of course the central message of the NT, that Jesus died for our sins so we can be reconciled to God, is an answer to the dilemma posed in the central message of the OT. That makes it totally dependent on the central message of the OT. If we put long ages into the creation account of Genesis 1 then we put death before sin: we put death before man was even on the scene. Death is no longer a result of man's sin, but normal, in fact required (for evolution). Death is thus no longer an enemy, which it makes it illogical for Jesus to die to save us from death. In short, long ages contradicts the central message of the whole Bible, and nullifies Christianity.

Ah yes, the good ol' "There is no contradiction at all in the Bible, if you were a True Scotsman True Christian you would see how the apparent contradictions are actually not." argument.

Present your so called "closer scrutiny" and collect your Nobel Prize. I'm sure your high school level biology is correct while millions of scientists across all disciplines are wrong.

It's just a coincidence that people are suddenly surviving leukemia during the same time that science has developed leukemia treatments?
Yes, it´s actually a set of miracles. But God didn´t want to boast, so he made it appear as an effect of scientific findings.
