How do you know butter can give cats heart disease?
Actually cardiovascular disease is not a leading cause of death for cats.
In humans it causes more than 30 percent of deaths in the United States.

It's just a coincidence that people are suddenly surviving leukemia during the same time that science has developed leukemia treatments?

I am not saying that science does not help some people. They just kill off more then they help. For a very brief moment in time the tables actually turned and they slowed down the rate they were killing people. Now this glitch has fixed itself.

How would you determine that doctors are hurting anyone? Do you use scientific studies to determine that? It would appear that the reliability of science, in your eyes, depends on how closely it adheres to your dogmatic beliefs. You have already made up your mind.

Sorry double negatives are difficult for my mind to work with. Science is a flip of the coin, you got a 50% chance of being right. The women that trusted their doctor when they took thalidomide did not think they were flipping that coin. They did not know that taking that pill would cause birth defects for their children. That is why the consumer needs to beware. We need to be careful when dealing with science and not assume they know what they are talking about. Whenever anyone wants to sells you something then you got to be careful that they are not going to do you more harm then good. kævɛɑːt ˈɛmptɔr is Latin for "Let the buyer beware"

Science has a 50% chance of being right?

Does your computer work 50% of the time?
Do your lights go on when you flip the switch 50% of the time?
Does your house cool or warm when you set the thermostat 50% of the time?
Does your refrigerator keep food cold 50% of the time?
Does your television work, 50% of the time?
Does your car get you where you want to go, 50% of the time?
Are the blood tests and other diagnostic tools your doctor uses, only accurate, 50% of the time?

All your doing is attempting to pick examples of the 50% of the time that they are right. We can just as easy list examples of the 50% of the time that they are wrong or outright harmful. So let the buyer beware, esp when it comes to science tampering with our food.

Ultrafine titanium dioxide dust caused respiratory tract cancer in rats.
So there is cause for concern that our modern diet could cause cancer.

Uh-huh. Well, if you're such an expert, perhaps you'd like to tell us what said biologists DO think?

On reflection, I am not happy with how I have been responding to people in this thread and think it would best if I just left it. I'm sorry that I was aggressive and dismissive of people, some of whom are clearly more knowledgeable about these things than I am.

Since you rely on science everyday of your life, in multiple ways, are you standing by your claim that science is right 50% of the time?

Actually it is Sam Arbesman that is making the claim. There have been lots of times I have lived a life that did not depend on science. Even the Ornish program is telling us how we can avoid science. We can avoid surgery and medicine if we do not let science tamper with our food.

You rarely address simple questions straight on, but evade the vast majority of the time. You make claims and then put the claim off on someone else, or simply, ignore simple questions asking for an explanation.

Very intellectually dishonest, IMO.

Actually it is Sam Arbesman making that claim. Even the Ornish program is teaching us we can live free from Science. We do not have to let science tamper with our food. If we follow his program then we will not need the medicine and surgery that we otherwise would need.

Without using science, how could you determine which were helpful and which were harmful?

Bingo you win the prize. bhsmte really should have figured this out before you. If science had not told me that the 'whole food plant based diet' is the most healthy I would not have figured it out on my own. They used science to test their treatment plan and they used Science to modify the plan as they went along.

As the old timers says: all things in moderation (balance).
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are beneficial.

Why do you need to bring up your diet in every thread?

I don't talk about my diet. I talk about how we have scientific evidence that the CEO's of America are using Science to destroy our health. It is wonderful as you point out that science snitches on itself like they do. I would never have to say a word if science were not being used to lie to people and case them harm and destruction.

Are you actually being serious?
