Why do YE Creationists insist on a simplistic literal reading of the bible?

If that is what you believe, it is not my job to change your mind.

I don't see the Bible as quite so limited, personally.

But,as you freely admit, you have built a wall of ignorance to shield you from any evidence which contradicts your preformed conclusions...

You're the one accusing ignorance. If you equate someone not revering scientific evidence as much as you to ignorance, you are no different than a follower of any religion equating someone disbelieving their holy text to ignorance.

Your performed conclusion is that scientific evidence will lead you to truth. Any contradictory view you automatically dismiss as ignorant.

Since I believe the literal is true, I would say so.

Oh, but you are limiting the bible... you will only accept it, if it is literal when you want it to be. Otherwise, it is apparently junk to you.

I would love to see how you think this is a "when you want it to be" thing. Where do you get this from?

You're the one accusing ignorance.

No, you are....

You have made it quite clear that, if the evidence provided by the real world clashes with your religious view, you will ignore and deny that evidence.

That is, by definition, willful ignorance......

Ignorance is what produced a generation of Thalidomide children.

When it comes to ignorance, your craft wrote the book on it.

I think he is confusing willful ignorance with choice, he thinks that by denying something he is making a choice,
for him there is no right or wrong there is only his dogma and that must come first every time,
he is well past the fear stage and is into the certainty stage and truly believes everything he thinks and says,
nothing anyone says to him has any effect, even if his pastor told him it was all lies he would not believe him,
in fact I can not think of one thing that would make him change his mind, even he couldn't tell us what would.

He is the only one who can change his own mind, with luck something will click in his head and there will be doubt,
when that happens it's just a matter of time, how do I know? I was that woman.
Until then all we can do is wish him all the best.

When I think back I cry but now I am just grateful to be me.

When all the evidence suggests that it isn't literal, and you still insist it must be literal. That's "when you want it to be."

When YE's accept the world can only be less than 10, 000 years old and argue that dinosaur fossils and earth sediments that have been dated to millions of years old are a trick of the Devil placed there so as to test their faith, simplistic reading of the Bible is the only excuse that can be afforded to defend that.

As is ignorance of the Bible. Scripture says God does not count time as we do. But the YE's take the 6 day creation to be our known 24 hour day cycle. As if God created the heavens and the earth from a span of time like unto Monday all the way through Saturday.

Do you think you're going to argue them out of it? They believe their soul depends on holding faith in it. Let it go. In the end it doesn't matter about the time frame. What matters is the commitment to God and how one lives their life in the image and likeness of the truth of Christ.

You assume everyone reveres scientific evidence the way you do. That's not the case. Your standard isn't the standard of everyone else, even if you want it to be.

Not revering scientific evidence is just a different standard. You have basically just reverted to schoolyard namecalling because I don't have the same standard that you do...

So you look down on people who do not share your beliefs on this subject? Same with other subjects? Why would you "cry" thinking back?

I can't speak for other people, but I don't believe my soul depends on holding faith to young earth creationism. I don't know where you got that idea from. I think that's what the Bible teaches. Obviously you don't. I don't think we're any less brothers in Christ because of that difference.

I don't know who answered that the date testing for dinosaur fossils was a trick of the devil to test faith. It certainly wasn't me that said that. I think your equipment is off, personally.
