I recently heard a speaker say that cable providers pay a fee to all stations in their service. The point the speaker made is that even if you don't watch those programs you are still supporting them through your cable subscription. Her solution, dump the cable. I suppose this may be true for satellite dish and internet service providers, although I don't know for sure. Vote with your dollars, nonetheless. Don't use their service is her advice.

My neighbor's 12 yr old daughter recently came out as gay.When I first moved into the neighborhood the mother had a live in girlfriend but they broke up when the child was 7. My point is that sometimes kids don't pick up things from Hollywood .It could be going on in their own homes. Not saying that the 12 yr old "picked up" being gay from her mom. Best thing we ever did was get rid of cable 5 years ago. We still continued to watch and allow the kids to watch movies, some shows on our laptop, but even that is petering out now. Sounds weird but one of the most insidious things we have found was the almost exclusive kids movie content of anthropomorphism, ( as well as kid-superior than-foolish adults). Romans 1 rings so eerily true in that we now have a generation of adults/ children who so obviously worship and serve the creature over the Creator. Thankfully we personally have had food animals as well as a couple pets, but we also fish and hunt, so that my children have a biblical perspective on what place animals have in His creation. The almost fanatical obsession with human-characteristic animals in Hollywood is manifested in some of the very unrealistic and possibly dangerous ( ie considering animal life to be more valuable then human life) organizations and attitudes that exist today. Tangible evidence is visible in cities and towns overrun with dogs, cats, rabbits and deer. I live near one, and the people there are blinded to cause/effect by "cuteness", yet soup kitchens are often short on food. Deer and rabbit are some of the healthiest meats, and wild means free range!

Whenever I read threads like this, I see a lot of misunderstanding about culture. Television shows and movies are not a reflection of real life, in fact, if anything, most criticisms I've heard about TV shows is that they've become too unrealistic. The show Friends has become infamous for this, to where it's Netflix description ends with "...with really nice apartments." Nobody in mainstream culture is gagging their six year-old, and nobody would or be even okay with that. It's something so ridiculous that if you can look past your initial shock that the ridiculousness of it is funny to some people, others won't find it funny and that's also okay. Personally, I don't know enough about the joke from that picture to really have an actual opinion over whether or not it's over the line.

Secondly, one of the most important things I think I was ever taught is that when people make jokes directed towards you, they are not being malicious towards you. The ability to laugh at yourself and what you are apart of I think is one of the most psychology healthy things you can do. It makes life so much easier and more enjoyable to laugh at your own expense.
