Guys and Gals,
This thread is very controversial (even making that statement is redundant) and I just want to clear some air. The main points everyone has made have all been for the wrong reason. Isn't Christianity about looking at your own faults? Holding friends accountable instead of judging them out ofprideful disagreement? So far this thread has been successful at causing us to bicker with each other, when the most important thing is your relationship with Christ. We ALL agree that Christ died for us. We ALL agree he rose again on the 3rd day. And we ALL can agree that most of these posts are for the wrong reasons. Let's do what Christians do and forgive each other as Christ Forgave us
Good point
I still don't know how my cross isn't an R.C. cross .
Surely we are not going to let shapes of crosses divide us on top of all the other silly things .
sorry rawson. You sport whatever icon you choose.
Far be it for me to dictate to you.
I was just curious and we ALL know how that turned out for kitty.
I think I did answer it. But here goes again. Words are simply symbols on paper that only have the meaning that we ascribe to them.
I didnt hear you say that but i agree. naturally...
If there are two conflicting meanings, which is more likely to be correct. Is it the meaning given by a guy who talked to the writer? Or is it the meaning given by some guy who wrote 1500 years after the fact.

I see, So you're saying that if I 'read' what Paul said and someone who 'may' have
"heard' him say those words, then the other guys perception is just naturally
more 'correct' than mine...
And you ask me which is more likely to be correct.
My answer is ... that all depends.
Had I been there 'hearing' his words, why would i have gotten a different perception
than I would 'reading' those same words?
Then it would have been ME PLUS that other guy writing OUR perceptions.
(and iirc that's exactly what we have...many many authors have penned their
thoughts about what was said then/what happened then...)
So unless you can somehow enlighten me (and you're welcome to) I must of course,
arrive at a different conclusion.
Did he leave an invisible neo-gnostic cult of individual self actualization such as described by modern evangelicals?
Or did he leave a visible Church community that dwelt in doctrinal and sacramental unity to be his witness to the world such as described by Rome?

OBJECTION OBJECTION!!
... strawman
And yes, I came to this conclusion all by myself by reading the scriptures just like Messrs. Luther and Calvin said to do. I also came to a different conclusion through my own personal study than did those two distinguished gentlemen. What do we make of that? Which of us is the Holy Spirit deceiving.
Good question.
And if you find THAT answer, you'll be all set

Hint: it's right in front of you.
Its sorta like a mercedes driving up by an old beat up chevy type thing.
Hey are we both still here?? LOL
I did get cleaned up though

(a little washing of water by the word.)
we crack me up
