Why do Roman Catholics...

I would rather never talk about roman catholicism at all. It would be great if we could just talk about Christ and applying God's word to our lives. I firmly believe if we focus on Christ and living by the word of God then we will see results in our lives, we will have conviction and will move closer to being molded into his image.

We do that all the time at my parish.

In my experience, the evangelical spends more time talking about their ideas of the Catholic Church, then the Catholic spends talking about anything.

That would be one of my greatest criticisms of the great expression of Christianity which is neither Catholic nor Orthodox and that is what I call the 'me and Jesus' movement. That is, your relationships with Jesus become so intensely personal and individualized that your beliefs about Jesus become unique to yourselves.

Why criticize?
I have that intense personal individualized 'thang' going with God
There's not one thing wrong with that.

Our "beliefs' are only as good as our "actions"
and our "actions" are colored completely by our
"intense personal" knowledge of/relationship with God.

If I don't hang WITH God, I don't look at all LIKE Him.

Jesus often would go off to be alone with the Father.
THAT'S where you get energized..
Then the 'glory' of God reflects OFF of you and when
folks see you.... (they either hate ya or love ya like family lol)

No, most of my energy lately has been spent confronting the outrgeous attacks from the anti-Catholic spin machine.

I learn and teach about Jesus, by being a part of a concrete faith community, worshiping corporately and caring for the lost, forgotten and disenfranchised.

Hi, I went by another tag (or 3 lol) and recently switched it. We've met I think before. I know yer not a 'hater' but some on CF (no names) truely are haters of the RCC or even Catholicism (Old Catholic, Celtic Catholic, Polish National Catholic, etc) in general.

I can speculate if ya want LLOJ.

I would think they didn't "hate" the Church as a whole, and I know some reformers weren't going after starting new "denominations", etc.
Hatred of the Papacy is a different story though.
