Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do people try to obey the law when it's not possible

Andy Stanley, R.C Sproul and D.L. Moody all have sermons available upholding the Law of God as we see in 1Cor 7:19 "What matters is keeping the Commandments of God".

The title of this thread is interesting - according to Paul in Romans 8:5-8 there is only one group that is faced with this problem every day.

Of course the Romans 6 chapter has the full explanation of the OP.

So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith now that faith has come we are no longer under the supervision of the law before this faith came we were held prisoners by the law locked up until faith should be revealed.
Galatians chapter 5 verse 1 It is for freedom Christ has set us free.
Why would Christ die for sins if it does us no good that seems to be what your expressing.
1 John chapter 2 verse 2 Christ died for the sins of the whole world. (and not just believers )

What are you talking about. Through Jesus we have been raised above the literal law to the law of love. Jesus does not want dedication to a rigid system. He wants our surrender to the Father nothing more. He wants the bowing down of our hearts to mercy not to justice. By justrice we would never be saved. Oh wait I am talking to an empty audience. I am a prophet and prophets are called to scold the unfaithful to keep them from straying.

I guess the ones that don't agree don't have faith so let me show you how to have faith.
Romans chapter 10 verse 17 Consequently faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

Faith comes to each of the saints - at the moment they accept the Gospel -- not before. This has been true from the days of Adam until today.

"The Gospel was preached to us just as it was to them also" Heb 4:2 speaking of the OT saints.

in Heb 11 we see a long list of those saints held up as examples for NT saints to follow.

Prior to faith coming - we are under the condemnation of the Law of God as Romans 3 and Galatians 3 point out clearly "all the world held accountable" even after the cross. All the world under sin - all the world in need of a Savior - until faith comes to this or that individual they are held under that condemnation.

They experience the problem of Romans 8:5-8 UNTIL faith comes.

But AFTER "faith comes" to that individual --

THEN "What matters is KEEPING the commandments of God" 1Cor 7:19

AFTER faith comes then -
"It is NOT the hearers of the Law that are just before God but the DOERS of the Law WILL be justiFIED... on the day when according to my GOSPEL God will judge all mankind" Rom 2:13-16

AFTER faith comes then -

the saints are those "who KEEP the Commandments of God AND their faith in Jesus" Rev 14:12.

AFTER faith comes then -

"IF you Love Me KEEP My Commandments" John 14:15.

AFTER faith comes then - we have Romans 6. (too much to quote the entire chapter here)

AFTER faith comes - then we have Rom 3:31
"Do we then make void the LAW of God by our faith! God forbid! In fact we establish the Law of God"

AFTER faith Comes we have the Hebrews 8 "New Covenant" promise of the "LAW of God written on their minds and on their heart" (Jer 31:31-33 quoted in Hebrews 8)

This is the FULL Gospel message that does not leave the reader at the POV of the lost in Romans 8:5-8 but takes them to the point "AFTER faith Comes".

Paul defines it very well in Romans 8:5-17 by contrasting those who "belong to God" vs those who "have their minds set on the flesh" and are "hostile toward God" - as I am sure we would all agree.

But IF the Spirit of God dwells in you – the “we are under obligation NOT to the flesh but to the Spirit”

9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

Hebrews chapter 7 verses 11,12 If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood for on the basis of it the law was given to the people why was there still need for another priest to come one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.
John chapter 15 verse 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Galatians chapter 5 verse 14 The entire law is summed up in a single command love your neighbor as your self.
Those are the only laws you can obey. I don't think Jesus died for selfishness.
1 John chapter 2 verse 2 Jesus died for the sins of the world.

I have discussed these scriptures and many more on this topic.

So I can know where you are coming from, could you answer my one question.

It is a simple question.

I see where you quoted Galatians 5 -

It is for freedom Christ set us free...

So my question to you is:

Now that the law has led us to Christ, are we now free to break the law?

In your opinion, would that be yes or no?

The only law we can't break is Galatians chapter 5 verse 14 The entire law is summed up in a single command love your neighbor as your self.
And the fact of the matter is you do break every other law.
James chapter 2 verse 10 If anyone keeps the whole law yet stumbles at just one point there guilty of breaking all of it.
So your guilty of breaking every law!
James chapter 2 verse 13 Judgement without mercy will be shown anyone who hasn't been merciful mercy truimphs over judgement.
You might want to read Romans chapter 2 it explains how some people preach the law yet break it, like some try to do but I believe God might reject these people, but I hope not.

Ephesians chapter 2 verses 14-19
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two. thus making peace and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently , you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household.

In James 2 - James lists a lot more laws than "Love your neighbor".

There are over 1000 commands given in the NT alone.

Paul said "Do we then make void the law of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we establish the Law of God".

In Eph 6 Paul refers to the binding 5th commandment as still in force saying that "it is the FIRST commandment with a promise" - which is only true in that "unit of Ten".

No wonder than that D.L. Moody, R.C Sproul, Andy Stanley and even the RCC admit to the continued binding authority of the Ten Commandments for Christians today.

Before the Cross - Christ said "IF you Love Me KEEP My commandments" which is also a quote from the Ten Commandments. John 14:!5

The saints of God are those who "Keep the Commandments of God AND their faith in Jesus" Rev 14:12.

The word of Christ is in the new testament.
You can't teach faith or love you can only show it.
