I have an idea of my own...
I would love to hear others' thoughts on this matter.
I suspect that is because he did not want to hear all the lies repeated upon lies and propaganda and slander etc etc etc....If you really wanted an answer to this, you would have posted it where non-WoF could actually give you the reasons why we have problems with it.
Who says it doesnt work, someone who prays fleshly prayers expecting God to honor the flesh? Wont happen. Prosperity is real according to praying Gods will into your life and situation. God prospers His people who walk in obedience to His will for them. He will not honor prayers in the flesh or greed or any other spirit not of God.
"Why do people have a problem with prosperity teachings?"
For the simplest reason in the world -
THEY DON'T WORK!!!!
There's essentially not a penny's worth of difference in the actual "Prosperity" of a "Normal Christian", and one who's sitting under "Prosperity teaching".
In fact statistically, the MOST economically disadvantaged folks in Christendom are MOST LIKELY to belong to the "Full Gospel" genres - Pentecostal/Charismatic groups - which, of course include "Word of Faith", and "Prosperity" sub categories.
The TEACHERS of prosperity (The Hollywood crowd) - obviously experience "Prosperity".
But the "Rank and file"???? Nothing.
And since folks are becoming more AWARE that "Prosperity" doesn't work - there's a growing skepticism about it, as there SHOULD be.
There IS, of course, a BIBLICAL "Prosperity" - which is always for the purpose of "Blessing others", and not for selfish consumption.
"God prospers His people who walk in obedience to His will for them."
Sure - He's prospered me over the course of my life as I've walked with him - but that's really only normal "process Christianity". It's Got nothing to do with "Prosperity teaching" which is typically related to selfish gain, and generally includes "Giving to get" according to some supposed "Spiritual rules" of "multiplication".
"Gain" is not "Godliness" regardless of which "Spiritual TV giant" du jour is leading the parade.
But - "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" how "prosperous" are the folks HERE who believe/practice "Prosperity methodology??"
Statistically, the Episcopalians are the "prosperous folks" - not the "Prosperity groups".
Amen. It "works" for those who believe. It has worked for me for 40 years. God blesses us continually.Who says it doesnt work, someone who prays fleshly prayers expecting God to honor the flesh? How about the healing of a little girl who fell off her bike, hit her head on the sidewalk (this was before madatory helmet laws), and went into a coma? Is that a selfish, greedy prayer?

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
1Ti 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
1Ti 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
After the fall of the Roman empire a section of the church entered into a poverty movement where they thought to be poor made one more holy and to be rich made one evil. That error has carried over into many modern church teachings. They cannot see that equating poverty with righteousness is just as bad as equating material riches with righteousness.
Opponents of WoF are obessessed with the idea that someone may be prosperous. Which is odd because by NT standards they themselves are very prosperous. They are sitting in a very warm secure place typing words onto a computer. All this requires a level of prosperity that "poor" (by NT standards) cannot achieve. There is a blindness here. They criticise others for doing the very same thing that they themselves do. I have yet to meet a single anti-WoF critic divest themselves of all their prosperity and become righteously poor. Not one. But that is what they want you to do. As another person said. It is a religious spirit that wants to deprive the people of God of the good things God has for us. They cannot see it. By definition, that means they are blind.
People don't realize that money is a tool we can use in this world for the preaching of the gospel. If a person is scared of the tool, then they won't use it.
I'm just getting into this thread and I agree with this wholeheartedly.
I was visiting another forum recently, and all of a sudden because I defended the true prosperity message, I am being taunted and mocked, and now two threads have been initiated declaring someone a false prophet who has been well known for this teaching. I was so disgusted that I reported the thread and told them I am gone.
It is an unholy spirit behind this nonsense!
...and they won't get it, either. God blesses those He finds trustworthy.
It is a religious spirit of control. There is a spirit in the world wants to control all things. It is not riches or prosperity these ones want. They want to control all things.... including you. If this means condemning you because you avail yourself of the blessings of God... so be it. This spirit prevails among all heresy hunters. They seek to condemn and control you. They have no concern for your soul or the souls they seek to destroy by robbing them of the blessings of God. They would rather see you impoverished, sick and dying, or even dead. And they do not even see it. All the while they will not lift finger to do the things they seek to impose upon you. They want you to live in a cave wearing rags eating wild onions and drinking branch water. NONE of them take this level of poverty upon themselves. That makes them hypocrites and pharisees.I'm just getting into this thread and I agree with this wholeheartedly.
