Why do people believe in evolution?

It doesn't compute (in my mind).
So what? Many of the sciences don't. Do you reject Quantum Mechanics? QM doesn't fully compute in my mind, and I've taken university-level courses in the subject. Should I reject it?

QM is of no interest to me. I can't reconcile the complexity and perfection of the natural living world with the theory of evolution.

So it has nothing to do with Biblical reasons. Just failings/short comings of your mind.

I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. There are many more important things besides evolution that I don't understand. o_O

I don't think your very clear limitations provide a convincing reason for rejecting evolutionary theory.

Curious that you consider the natural living world to be "perfect".

It's perfect in that it's not perfect. If it were perfect according to science, it would be grotesque.

Creation is a big part of my belief system, which admittedly is quite different than most.

That seems odd. Why is QM of no interest to you but evolution is? QM is the foundation of the natural world.

Neither are of interest regarding the study thereof. My head is already full of information that is of no use to me.

But you're here, arguing against evolution. Do you visit other forums to argue against the other things you don't understand?

I'm not presenting an argument against evolution. I'm stating that I don't believe it, and, asking why others do. It's always an interesting topic.

I get the same pushback for things I do understand. I think some are threatened by my understanding.

and the short answer is, there's no reason not to until something better comes long.

Evolution is a "bridge too far" for my pea-size brain.

You know, when I first started learning about evolution, I thought it was way too big of a topic to tackle- especially later on in life for me. That's why I put it off for so long. It just seemed too big for me.

It's not as big of a topic as it first seems, though. Yes, you can go into infinite detail with it if you like, but there's plenty of bite sized pieces that make it easier to digest. What I would do is take a topic that interested me, like fishing, and I learned more about the biology of fish and how they adapted over time, and why they adapted the way they did. It would give me an inner look into the different kinds of salmon, and why they each individually behaved the way they did. It actually kind of helped me to become a better fisherman, too. :D

That's what I would suggest for you if you ever felt inclined to look into the subject; small chunks. No one ever eats a harvested deer in one sitting. They take small cuts of meat here and there when they are in the mood to eat venison.

Evolution requires more dominos to fall than there are dominos, imo.

...But how can you know that without opening the box of dominos to see what's inside? :)

So you doubt the power of the spiral? ;)
