Evolution is not the truth because it goes against what the bible says..

God spoke animals, stars, man, creatures of the seas, etc. into existance.. They did not evolve!

Where does the Bible say that those things God created stayed exactly the same? And what does that have to do with salvation again? You gave me a Bible verse about God creating man--but you've yet to show me how that means that I must believe that to have salvation. Or even how God creating man meant that he wanted to have a relationship with the things he created.

The point is... Evolutionists have nothing to offer anyone by debating evolution except for self satisfaction of trying to prove their point!

Now christians on the other hand have the hope of everlsting life and an ETERNAL relationship with a loving God to offer evolutionists!

It's exactly this kind of dogma that drives me to speak out against the incredible lie of creationism and makes me question the very ability of our supposed intelligent species to think for itself.    The fact that it is even debated is beyond me; the truth is the truth.  It might be ugly and you might not like it, but it's there backed up by the evidence of radiometric dating, fossil records and such.  Oops, I forgot! Mentioning scientific procedures around creationists is taboo!  It might actually make them think!  Ok, I'll stop now.   Oh wait, JUST BECAUSE IT'S WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE DOES NOT MAKE IT TRUTH.  If we stop there and settle for that we are doing a huge disservice to humanity at large.  You can have your "god" but please don't tell me the earth was created in six days or mankind was "spoken" into existence.  It's an insult to our intelligence as a species to believe that.

I'll take a stab at your question.

The reason people argue about for the theory of evolution is that there is a concerted effort in the country to undermine the teaching of this theory in our science classes.  There are some who want to replace it with creationism and/or ID.  This is a direct attack on how science operates.  Theories with no evidence backing them up need to be disgarded.  What is the future benefit of this?  Well, it ensures that only science gets taught in science class.  What would happen if we banned the teaching of evolution?  Let's ask the Russians.

In the late forties and early 50's , the teaching of evolution was banned.  It was found to be in opposition to their idiology (sound familiar?) and instead Lamarckianism was introduced.  This position stated that genetics had nothing to do with inheritence of traits. Lamarck stated that organisms can inherit traits which have been acquired by their ancestors.  So, if I work out alot and get strong, my children will also be strong. 

The banning of natural selection as an explanatory mechanism had a profoundly detrimental effect on Russia - particularly in farming.  While we were breeding plants that were disease resistant and producing more and more food, Russia was struggling to feed its people.  All because science was replaced by ideology. 

Now do you understand why we argue?

Evolutionists debate because they are scientists and skeptics at heart. As opposed to the theist who firmly hold what was written 2000 yeats ago is infallable, the scientist invite scepticism. By having to prove your theory and answer WHY your belief is right you validate it. Thiest defend their religions with blind faith, sometimes to the death (theirs and more often others) as opposed to defending with reason and logic.

The OT was written long before 2000 years ago, so you have your timeline off there. If you want to attack Creationism, use facts. Evolutionists don't like evolution being called eviloution and stuff like that either. There are valid scientific reasons for believing in Creationism. In fact, natural selection and genetic mutations are facts, but not enough change is involved to get all the creatures/plants/fungi ect on this earth. I am not buying it and neither are very astute scientific minds. It takes much more faith to believe in macroevolution on the grand scale that would need to happen to create all the living creatures on this planet, than to believe God did it the way he said in the Bible. Talk about blind faith.

A word of advice. Whatever your intention or emotions, when it comes to forums like these the only thing that we will know about you are the words you write. Thus presentation is everything. If you write something with passion you might come off as being on the attack, and you might inadvertantly use bad grammer or bad spelling and thereby cause people to take you less seriously then they normally would. Take a little extra time, run the spell check (free link at the bottom of the page when you post), and tone down your argument a little. You'll find that most people are a lot nicer then.
