In my case 1.

Way back when I was a partisan I was a Blue because Ronald Reagan was President and I got a very bad impression of the Red team. I failed to reassess when G H Bush became President because although he was a very good President I was no longer in the country, though if I had been, being a Blue team member I would probably have twisted everything around to fit my Blue team prejudice.

When I became old enough to vote, I was in the middle. At least, I thought I was.

But, the parties changed and I found the Red moving away from me and the Blue moving to take me in the middle. I have moved more left than right on many issues, mostly on human rights. But the Right has never said much to get me to vote for them. The one thing that could have, balancing the budget and maybe shrinking the government, they have shown to be just a hollow promise and a way to let their backers run wild to get all the profit they want, no matter the cost.

I initially registered as a Green, then realized that primaries were a thing and went Blue.

I'm a Christian Democrat these days, sort of in the European tradition but more left of center than what is normal there, so Democrat is the only real option here as long as the GOP is fetishizing the free market and slashing safety nets. I would probably be Independent if my state permitted me to vote in a primary without being a member of the party.

I go by what I sense God tells me. Our human perspectives can be wrong, so I wait for His answer.

I just felt the R team was wrong on too many important issues. Since then theyve gotten even worse, drifting into a sort of make-believe reality and taking good portions of the country with them.

Yeah, maybe I'm the one who's departed from reality. But I dont think so. My mind is pretty clear, and encounters with contemporary "conservative" minds feel increasingly bizarre.

I didn't pick red or blue. I picked facts and then continually re-evaluate which party or candidate espouses ideas that hew most closely to those facts.

Neither--I am a registered independent who considers all propositions in light of the scientific evidence. I try to have no over-arching ideology other than to study the issue and vote for the best economic outcome for the greatest number of people, and let individuals legally determine their own social priorities. The ideology of the Republican and Democratic parties is foolish, self-interested, and based primarily on emotional reasoning. I think both parties are destroying the potential of this country.

Hmm, I guess I have considered myself Democrat for most of my young adult life. Growing up my family and many of my Christian peers were Republicans and I thought I had to be one two or else I was a bad person. I do remember being worried when I used to take political tests at school and always came out Democrat. So in reality I have probably be Democrat even during my child and teen years.

Recently I have switched my political status to "others" on this site. Admittedly my knowledge of politics is not the greatest. Just that in the past I thought out of the two only viable parties I was more in the Democrat camp. Honestly after listening to Jesse Ventura's rants I decided to be unaffiliated with either party, lol.

I wouldn't just say I was blue, I was anti-red. Well...until I started asking questions like, "What has blue actually done for me lately?" I wouldn't go as far as to say I am solid red. Just currently in favor of the direction red is going and is trying to take the country more so than the blue.

If interested, here is a link to a website called The Political Compass. It is like a personality test--but political. Don't take it too serious, it is not highly scientific.
