Their cause is to get free publicity.

Along with getting this issue publicity, yes? So win/win yet for some reason people are castigating them for it.

That'd be a great argument for the Saudi's to use, "Sure we murder homosexuals for being who they are but look at all the good things we do!"

Not actively fighting against regimes with human rights abuses is now the moral equivalent of murdering homosexuals?

Any one could, if they were willing to lie about it....there is the rub. No one should have to lie to receive that same privilege.....Therefore it is a special privilege.

Using the bathroom for the gender you identify with is a special privilege now?

Probably about as capable as they are of making a difference in NC.

Really? I mean, it worked in Georgia pretty well. The law there got vetoed explicitly because of the economic pressure various organizations placed on it. So I'm confused - are you saying this will work in Saudi Arabia (which would be wrong, because Saudi Arabia is an Islamic theocracy that relies entirely on just about one export good and really couldn't care less if Paypal creates jobs there), or are you saying that this won't work in North Carolina (which I'd say is unlikely at best)?

Let's look at it this way. I go to the mens room and it is all funky and I decide to use the women's room. I walk in someone says something to security, they confront me and then I say "I feel like a female today" and now I get to walk away. Sounds like special privilege to me.
Wow, yeah, that totally encapsulates the spirit of the laws (and how they will be enforced), and it totally isn't a gross mischaracterization of gender dysphoria and the issues involved. You seriously need to spend some time reading up on what organizations like the APA, AAP, AMA, WPATH, and WHO have to say about gender identity. You clearly don't understand the issue very well. I'd go into more detail here, but...

Let's forget that it's a mischaracterization, since we aren't technically allowed to discuss that topic here.
Well how about his dishonest and quite frankly offensive mischaracterization? Am I understanding it correctly that he's basically allowed to spread lies about these laws and their implementation as well as underhanded swipes at what it means to be transgendered, and we're not allowed to correct them? That's incredibly messed up.

The simple answer is yes......

I see. So you identify as a man and you don't get to use the men's room? You are forced to use the woman's room for some reason? Don't worry brother. I will support you in your quest to use the men's room once again.

Strange definition of 'special' you have there.

What lie did I spread, since it is apparent you are speaking of me though not to me?

You have the privilege to use the bathroom that corresponds with who you are. It's not a special privilege that another group wishes to do the exact same thing.

The exact same privilege is not a special privilege.

Unfortunately, you missed the whole point. It is a special privlege unless it is applied to everyone equally. If I have to lie to get it, then it is not applied to everyone equally. That is as simple as I can make it.

I would suggest you're outnumbered by the privileged that bully Christians. Tread carefully brother. You'll note the disconnect afforded in those that support everything the Christian faith calls sin, while being totally intolerant of the Christians that recognize sin and hold to their faith. Despite the assaults they undergo. Telling.

It applies the same to everyone. You don't have to lie to use the bathroom that corresponds to who you are.

If you are lying, then you are not in the bathroom that corresponds to who you are.

Since we agree something which applies the same to everyone is not special, you will agree that this is not special.

Why would you have to lie to use the restroom you feel most comfortable in? Quite the opposite of what you are saying, it's laws like this one that would force people to lie just to use the restroom if they are not allowed in the one that makes most sense to them.

Who you are meaning birth gender, right?(waiting for this one)

If you were actually reading the above posts then you know exactly what I said; if you weren't I recommend you go back and read.

I read your posts. Perhaps, if you feel you are being misunderstood, you should state more clearly what you mean.

I agree, but to the extent that paypal - or anyone else - "picks and chooses" which moral issues they will take a stand on is influenced by the profit motive, their moral credibility is severely diminished.

Does this apply to any church where any member shops at a store which sells any goods produced in a country with a government not totally supportive of Christianity? I'm curious how far this kind of thing stretches before it becomes totally useless (and if we're already passed it in this thread a long time ago).
