Why conservatives are boycotting paypal

paypal has steep fees. And there are alternatives out there. But there is another reason many conservative organizations are putting out an alert to close down all paypal accounts.

I am a believer in the Bible, and I do not like people bullying others into views that go against their conscience or religion. People even before capitalism, flocked to america because of this freedom of religion.

I am closing my account at paypal based solely on an american family action alert last week.

I will post the link for you to read.

It accuses paypal of bullying a state to accept co-ed bathroom policy. And denial of service of paypal for the entire state because of a recent law.

this is not acceptable on many levels.

this thread is not advice, as I am not stating to do so.

I am simply mentioning that others are doing this, and that I have in fact closed my account. mainly because ebay card payments now. The only thing I sacrificed was steep fees at paypal, and a warranty that may never be used. Ebay warranty or piece of mind is not really existent. But again, if you go to any flee market, you dont' get a warranty either.

It is not bullying....this is how you get corporations attention....affect their bottom line and the CEO/COO/President will sit up and take notice....that is if they want to keep their jobs....

Okay, if this is the conservative response to Paypal's decision, then we really need AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner, and Comcast to stand up for LGBT rights. Let's see if we can't get conservatives to completely boycott all available internet service providers! That would be hilarious! Almost as hilarious as the Family Research Council recommending that everyone boycott Paypal while recommending that people who want to donate do it with... Uh... Paypal.

While you're at it, you should be boycotting:

That's what the law does. It doesn't matter if businesses & colleges in NC agree w the law they are forced to enforce it. So the only option for those who feel like it goes against their conscience is to not do business in NC, if they even have the option. Some can't move out of state so they're stuck. Lol, go ahead & stop using Paypal. I'm sure they expected people to do that before they made their decision & crunched the numbers. They'll be just fine w/out you.

The issue is not that these company's have policies that many of us disagree with; the issue is that they feel the need to shove it down peoples throats as if only they are right and everyone who disagrees with them is wrong. Had paypal simply quietly dropped their expansion plans probably very little would have been said. Instead they had to make a huge public issue out of it, attempting to demonize an entire state. Not a smart move; they would have done better to do it quietly. Of course, they still have the Singapore office; the country that is far more repressive to lgbt than NC could ever possibly be. That certainly has to be an embarrassment to them.

Once again, the AFA is telling falsehoods. If you read what PayPal has said, they aren't scrapping their expansion plans in NC because of bathrooms, they are scrapping them because NC invalidated Civil Rights protections for Veterans, gays, and others that had been passed in Charlotte (where they were going to build). Forgive me if I don't link the statement again, I have linked it on another thread so, with a bit of searching, you should have no problems finding it.

Comapnies have a right to make business decisions for whatever reasons they deem (usually financial) but when they "attack" a population for a social reason it tends to raise hackles because people believe their personal beliefs have been assaulted. How many times have liberals called for boycotts on companys because of labor, environmental or social stances? Both sides use the same tactics......
