• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am very overweight and for the last three weeks have been on a strict diet. But today i crumbled and went on a binge eating chocolate and biscuits. I've probably now put on all the weight i lost. And i am risking my health as i have high blood pressure and high cholestrol. Why can't i stop eating?

You shouldn't stop eating. I never liked the word "diet". I am not a nutritionist but I do believe I have some general knowledge in this area. In my opinion, as I've tried to slowly do as well, I think it's best to make baby steps in your life, in the direction of your weight-loss goal, rather than to go on strict diets. Whatever you do though, never stop eating. You don't want to put your body into starvation mode. Eat often and smaller meals and try to incorporate healthy alternatives into your diet. A lot of people today, including myself, like to eat one or two huge meals a day, while sitting in front of the tube.

The healthiest way to lose weight is do it slowly, incorporating some weight lifting and cardio into your long-term plan. The main goal is to lose fat and maintain muscle mass, and even better, to gain muscle while doing so. That's the prize!

I really like scooby1961's youtube videos(Can't post a link because of my low post count. Type in his name and you'll get to him.). He's quite informative and has a good attitude. He has videos covering almost every weight-loss or muscle building topic. I highly recommend you check him out.

God bless.
