You are attempting to use reason to try to empathize to “see-it-their-way” and you simply need to get out of reason beyond, “there’s only ‘good and evil’ and my side, isn’t the evil side!”
After that things just fall into place, and you can understand this right-wing populist movement’s “anger” that we’re undergoing, at the moment.

They’re good people, trying to do “the correct things” but are scared they’re “the baddies” but that can’t be right! So they cannot change.
