I see so many Christians begging for prayer from others over really trivial things

Yes I know, but that is because they lack maturity. At the same time you could pray that the Lord helps them with the way they look at problems. If you are mature in the Lord then encourage them in teaching and help them to become more mature in their faith rather than being annoyed. It is all how you look at things. Understand, the Lord looks at us no matter how mature we think we are as silly children often. Thank Jesus for his grace and mercy that he is patient with us as well :)

Titus 2:3-5King James Version (KJV)
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

When I ask God, in prayer, for something I believe that He hears me.
Why, then, does almost everyone beg people to pray for them in prayer chains etc.
Are our prayers not enough?

It almost feels like He won't answer unless I reach a quota of x number of people praying.
Why is this necessary? He hears me. Does He have to be persuaded?
'ok she now has 15 people praying so now I will answer' or ' no she only has 3.. sorry, not enough.

I am very familiar with all the scriptures telling us to pray for others but I have never understood WHY this is necessary for that person's prayer to be answered.

Part of it has to do with believers being part of the body of Christ, if one member suffers, we all suffer...1 Corinthians 12:12-26.

Asking other believers to pray for us...what's the benefit of that?
"You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many."2 Corinthians 1:11.

God is honored and praised by more of His Children, koinonia deepens and
the believers who partake are encouraged/strengthened.

Honestly, asking even immature Christians to pray can help them grow as well (though I try to not judge the heart in any way...though it often is a struggle). Thank God He doesn’t limit salvation to the mature Christians.

To add to what I said earlier...

All in all, we are the Body of Christ as a community...so we worship, pray and praise God as a community as well.

Ephesians 4:15-16 said:
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Hello Mary,

Matthew 18:20For where there are TWO or THREE gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (The quota that you seek is two or three)

Mary, the Lord hears ALL who pray to Him, but it does not mean that you will get what you are praying for. Jesus Christ Himself, prayed to His Father in the garden that His cup may pass him by, but the Father did not answer Jesus, Oh are you greater than Jesus Christ, that the Father should answer your prayers and not His only Son?

You could say that Jesus Christ had a prayer chain, when he told Peter: Matthew 26:36Then Jesus came with them into a country place which is called Gethsemani; and he said to his disciples: Sit you here, till I go yonder and pray. 37And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to grow sorrowful and to be sad. 38Then he saith to them: My soul is sorrowful even unto death: stay you here, and watch with me.

Mary, you should ask those who are closer to Jesus than we who are yet in this world. Gather yourself a prayer chain of the saints that have gone before us, who can pray / intercede for us. Jesus Christ Himself, had Moses and Elias come to give Him strength to endure the Cross, should we not do the same as the Master? Matthew 17:3And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Mary, you told me that Mary is your birth name, that is no coincidence but a God-incidence, ask Mary, the Mother of our Lord to intercede / pray for you. Remember, It was Mary who told Jesus Christ to do His first miracle, transforming the water into wine, or do you believe that Mary, has stopped interceding for Her children? The Saints in Heaven are more Alive, than we are.

Thank you for your response but I cannot pray to anyone other than God. Jesus is my intercessor.

In 1 Corinthians 12 Paul identifies gifts of the Spirit like faith, healing, and miracles as imparted to a divinely selected few (12:8-10, 29). If you lack these gifts, your prayers will suffer from a lack of support from those so blessed. Paul stresses that the Holy Spirit functions as divinely intended primarily in the corporate Body of Christ rather than in individual believers. Each part and organ of this corporate body is needed so as to function as loving and united whole. In fact, "God has so arranged the Body as to give greater honor to the inferior member, so that there may be no dissension within the Body , but the members may have the same care for one another (12:24-25)." It's not that we should rely on each other's love and prayers; rather, the satisfaction of our needs actually depends on such mutual dependence: "If one member suffers, all suffer together with it (12:26)." Note that he doesn't say "should suffer;" he says "actually do suffer." In other words, we need each others' spiritual gifts, prayers, love, and service to meet our needs.

In my thread "The Right Prayer Partner under the section "Praise Reports," I give many examples, personal and otherwise, that illustrate the need for designated others to pray for needs that you can't effectively pray for yourself:

The Right Prayer Partner

Why don't you read through that thread and post your reactions and questions there?

Sorry but the name Agnes Sanford stopped me cold.

Sanford by her own admission was heavily influenced by New Thought. Since New Thought uses the Bible and refers to God and Jesus, it misleads many. Moreover, some well-known professing Christians blended New Thought with what appears to be Christianity, infusing New Thought principles into their Christian teaching, thus misleading even more people

Sanford believed that the blood of Christ was "the essence of His being" and possessed a "life-energy" that was dried up after his death on the cross and "was disseminated by the wind and mingled with all life," remaining as an "invisible current of a heavenly energy, an ACTUAL energy, a PERCEPTIBLE energy, and EFFECTIVE energy" (BYG, 104; caps are Sanford's). "We breathe in this energy today, and it is this energy that "accomplishes for us the forgiveness of sins" (105; italics are Sanford's). These statements are a denial of the truth of forgiveness of sins through repentance and faith, and turn the sacrifice of Christ into an energy that disseminates forgiveness by breathing it in.

Later, she declares that the death of Christ allows man's "light-vibrations of the spirit" to increase "to a higher current of spiritual energy by the infusion of the Holy Spirit," and that the Holy Spirit is "the highest vibration of the life of God" (138). Taken alone, this statement appears to deny the personhood of the Holy Spirit.

I think its helpful for other christians as well helps them to develop a spirit of servitude like Jesus and helps them become Christ like. Also remember there are some people who can't pray for themswlves, they may be under such spiritual attack or stress they may need intercession and of course those who dont know God dont even know how to pray...so they need prayer the most.

Wouldnt you want someone to pray for you during your darkest hour(when you have no strength to pray for yourself)?

I think I will request this thread closed because only a few even seemed to really read what I asked :)
I keep repeating myself.. its not about praying for others.. we are commanded to do that.
I do this daily. That was not my question.

But many of the answers just keep saying why we are to pray for others.
as if i was not aware of that lol

To the ones that understood my question I thank you for your answers. . they were helpful :)
