for many reasons.. but the most important to me, is that Jesus says that no man comes to the Father, but through ME.. i don't believe that people should go through a priest to have their sins forgiven. now, catholic friends of mine have explained a different point of view on this.. but it still comes down to an extra intercessory that is not needed.
another huge issue for me is that of some (i know not all, but some friends of mine have) catholics pray to saints. to me this is dangerously close to idolatry, even though i've seen other points of view.. this is just my take. i'm just answering the question honestly.

Why am I protestant?

Those that hold the authority of Scripture as the infallible rule for faith and practice for the Christian faith.

Those that are led by the Holy Spirit in magnifying Jesus as LORD.

Those that display the character of Jesus to the unbelieving world.

Those that understand salvation is a work of God ALONE. No work by man can ever effect his salvation.

I want to dance among the stars praising God's amazing grace to me...for He alone is worthy and all praise is due Him alone!!!

These are many other non-Protestants who believe these things.

Thank you for your honesty, but Please be more sensitive to our Catholic bretheren. (ie there's no need to give your opinion about their beliefs). PM me if you need further clarification.

Please don't provoke anything here. If that was or was not your intent, PM the guy, and have a personal conversation about it, if you would please.
In that anyone

Provoking is not my intent.

In that there are many that read these threads (Prot,non-Prot,non-Christians,lurkers), I wished to clear up what was an incorrect view of those outside of your faiths. A PM would not have accomplished that goal.

In my answer I would give a list of Catholic doctrines that I do not agree with, however since I would not want to provoke anyone to attempt to defend them in this thread I will simply say that there are at least 5 cor Catholic doctrines that I firmly disagree with and some them I feel go directly against the scriptures. For this reason I am not Catholic. I do love mass and attend occasionally because it is a beautiful service, and I have very good friends who are Catholic. I just cannot accept some of the doctrines. If anyone would like to know which those are feel free to PM me, I will gladly discuss them in that manner.

Maybe from your POV, but possibly not from the POV of this poster. Are we no longer allowed to give our POV without interference from the non-Protestants?

From your POV, we as Protestants have many things wrong, are you now going to correct us on everything you disagree with us on?

No.

I will not point out in this forum those Protestant doctrines that are, in the view of the Orthodox Church, in error.

However, I will point out the bearing of false witness (either intentionally or unintentionally) against a brother in Christ.

How is that bearing of false witness? It looks like you have to assume that they are saying that these things do not occur elsewhere. The poster didn't say that though. They are saying they found these things in Protestantism.

If an Orthodox was to say one of the reasons they believe in Orthodoxy over Protestantism is Apostolic Succession, are you going to correct them by telling them that there are others that have that as well (i.e. Catholicism)?

You need to be specific...blank statements show a lack of understanding on your part. Otherwise, your statement is merely opinion which your entitled to, but lacks credibility.

If that were not the case, why are you upset over my post ? I merely clarified a possible ambiguity (remember I said or unintentionally )

It looks like you are using PRE to evangelize to us poor Protestants. That is why I am upset.
