Of course, from the label "atheist" he knows absolutely nothing about your beliefs. He doesn´t because he can´t. The rest is but empty rhethorics.Aha, yes, go on... You stopped short for some reason. I wonder why that is? Could it be that you really know next to nothing about what I do believe?

For quite some time I was open to the idea that there might be some point behind all this, but finally the repeated use of "atheist theology" gave it away: He´s just trying to pull our chains.
I suppose it's possible that you are a person who has no convictions about anything, that you don't believe anything about human origins, the cosmos, evolution etc. Haven forbid....well not heaven, cosmos forbid I speculate arousing the touchiness of such a state.
So, what do you believe, Archaeopterix? All we can tell from the term "atheist" is that you believe that no gods exist. We have no clue what else you may or may not believe. Can you tell us?
Is it any more incoherent than an immaterial, unembodied, spaceless, and timeless intelligence?
You're confusing coherency with believability. Your problem is that you don't believe in an immaterial, unembodied, space-less, and timeless intelligent being. However, the concept of an immaterial, unembodied, space-less, and timeless god is totally coherent.
Could you clarify why that is a problem?
That´s not what I said or meant to imply. Please reread my post.I suppose it's possible that you are a person who has no convictions about anything, that you don't believe anything about human origins, the cosmos, evolution etc. Heaven forbid
Glad I could help, although I don´t know what a 12 step fb forum is.btw, I snagged you quote on Rumi, I like that, going to use it on a 12 step fb forum.
times twoBTW, it's refreshing for a Christian to actually ask an atheist what they believe.
I know it wasn't directed at me, but as the other poster said ... it is refreshing to see a believer actually ASK an atheist (or someone they have assumed was an atheist/etc) what they believe. Personally I do sometimes grow weary of being accused of believing things I don't believe, judged for things I may not even believe, told I believe things and think things I don't believe or think, or have a believer ask me what I believe in order to weigh it against an opinion they've already formed to try and reinforce their own judgement. So, what do you believe, Archaeopterix? We've been discussing my assertion that you do believe something, that you cannot escape belief, not that I know exactly what you do believe beyond the generality that you no longer believe in God.
Your argument amounts to saying that when you lost faith in God and the associated philosophy of life, that now you are a void, that you have no belief about the universe, origins of life etc.
I still assert that Atheist who promote godless ideals do in fact believe things about the world, its just that those beliefs don't include God.
You're confusing coherency with believability. Your problem is that you don't believe in an immaterial, unembodied, space-less, and timeless intelligent being. However, the concept of an immaterial, unembodied, space-less, and timeless god is totally coherent.

To clarify, he's having a problem understanding that the concept of an immaterial, unembodied, space-less, and timeless intelligent god is a totally coherent concept, while an immaterial Flying Spaghetti Monster is not because he's made of spaghetti.
