  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why are SDA so paraoid of Jesuits?

I like the way Hawkman put it in this galactic fight scene:

I have noticed that some SDA really do not understand Catholic religious orders in particularly the Jesuits. For example I told one gentlemen that I went to school to study theology and he said something like "So you have been schooled by Jesuits". LOL. No I was not. I am curious why the SDA is so paranoid of these Jesuits and not the Dominicans or Franciscans or Carmelites or even diocesan priest etc?

An even better question would be: how is it possible that a reasoning being could buy into the nonsense of the restorationist (Adventist, Jehovah's Witness) movement? :D

Lol, I understand! I grew up in the Jehovah's Witness cult, I feel like I have earned a free pass when it comes to being harsh on the restorationist movement. :D

Wow that is a sweeping term to condemn. I don't see JW's on the list?

Restoration Movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't really consider Wikipedia to the place of all knowledge, but if that is your thing, here is a link the the official Wikipedia page for Jehovah's Witnesses:

Jehovah's Witnesses - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You will notice that it is called a restorationist denomination in the first sentence of the article.

Also, the founder of The Watchtower, Charles Taze Russell, was deeply influenced and educated in theology by Adventists and other members of the restorationist movement. What he learned in Adventist circles played a huge role in shaping Jehovah's Witness theology. Like all/most restorationist churches, the Jehovah's Witnesses believe that they are the only one true church and that they are restoring the true church of Jesus Christ. In conclusion, no Adventist Movement, no Jehovah's Witness cult.

I hope that that clears it up for you?

Furthermore, I am very understanding and moderate when it comes to theology and other such issues, however, when it comes to cults and ruining lives, I don't have much patience for that. I hope you can appreciate that, as I lived it and it continues to divide and tear my family apart. Cults are dangerous and we must speak out against them, even if it offends our modern day sensibilities.

This is more entertaining then waiting for the latest conspiracy theory. :)
For the latest conspiracy theories, always check the Eschatological sub-board of GT :)

Jer 11:9
Again the LORD said to me, “A conspiracy exists among the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Eze 22:25
The conspiracy of Her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured human lives;
they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst.

1 Peter 5:8
Be ye sober! Watch ye!
that the adversary/anti-dikoV <476> of ye, a devil, as a roaring lion roaring is treading about, seeking to be swallowing up.

Reve 5:5
And one out of the elders is saying to me "no be lamenting! behold! the Lion conquers/overcomes!
the One from out of the tribe of Judah the root of David to open-up the Scroll and to loose the seven seals of it".

The restorative movement was the term used so I had no other information to go on from your post. Jesus had tried to prepare us for divisions in family and it's unfortunate for you to have experienced that.

hmmm....

they were united in the belief that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; that Christians should celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first day of each week; and that baptism of adult believers by immersion in water is a necessary condition for salvation.

If you are accusing Seventh-day Adventist of celebrating the Lord's supper every Sunday or believing that one must first be baptized before they can be saved - then you are barking up the wrong tree.

Hey bob, why do you go back in the thread and read the question posed to you. Let's see your response to that question.

That was post 413 that you just added - are you suggesting that I read 412 posts to find "a question"??

Seriously??

Bob

BobRyan, how long was the Society of Jesus suppressed and why was the Society of Jesus suppressed?

Did you want me to post the full laundry list that Pope Clement included in his announcement? Really?

I thought I was doing you the favor of not posting everything the Pope said about the Jesuit order.

My point is that Pope Clement is not a Seventh-day Adventist - so you cannot blame every unflattering detail about the Jesuit order that comes to light - on Seventh-day Adventists.

So then - just stating the obvious.

in Christ,

Bob

Clear to me, but not sure how the SDA sect will take it.

So why are the SDAs consider orthodox if the JWs aren't?

It is all so confusing to me........

The Society of Jesus (Jesuits) was founded during the Reformation era in 1534. St. Ignatius of Loyola became the society's first general when Pope Paul III approved it in 1540. Famed missionary, St. Francis Xavier, was one of the original seven Jesuits.

"the society's first general" - or should that be "first captain"??

.

Because "details matter" which of course can be confusing to those who are not comfortable with that idea. :)

Interesting idea that the SDAs are larger than the Southern Baptists - and yet are to be called a "sect" like Paul said the NT christian church was called by the Jewish leaders.

How "instructive". - and off topic

in Christ,

Bob
