One major difference:
FLu: You get the flu and if you get over it, 99% of the time you move on with your life.
Covid: You get Covid and if you get over it, you have a high percentage chance of long term (possibly permanent) damage to your lungs, brain, kidneys, or heart.

Persistent Symptoms in Patients After Acute COVID-19
Oh, hey, we hadn't seen the "covid is just like the flu (if you ignore all the facts about it)" argument yet. Do proceed, I need the laugh.
I'm not sure of the relevance. Which public health experts were recommending wearing one during flu season to help prevent the spread of a novel pandemic?Never said covid19 was just like the flu. My question in itself pretty much distinguished it.
Did you wear a mask before covid19 during flu season?
I think the more relevant point - do you still have your FREEDOM, or was is infected by SOCIALISM! ?I always got the flu vaccine. Of course I now have autism, cancer, diabetes, dementia, and a strange desire to purchase Microsoft products and send checks to Bill Gates, but other than these minor side effects, I never wore a mask or got the flu.
Maybe we should have worn masks during flu season for a long time. Maybe we should start now. In many asian countries, this is completely normal behaviour.I'm not sure of the relevance. Which public health experts were recommending wearing one during flu season to help prevent the spread of a novel pandemic?
And I'm scared to even bring up the mention that there's a flu vaccine for fear of hearing about anti-vaxx propaganda.
Which assumptions did they make, and which ones of those do you disagree with?I already read links you gave me before. The links spewed assumptions.

I mean, after thoroughly studying the 11 links in under 3 minutes I'm sure you have a well thought out and researched rebuttal to each and every bit of information in them.
Did you wear masks during flu season and before covid19 came on the scene? Yes or no?
Apparently you can still spread the flu or other viruses (not referring to covid19) despite getting the flu shot.

Post #?Why should i bother putting in all that time when I gave a spoon feed posts back and it was handwaved away without rebuttal?
Other viruses can kill people. If you did not wear a mask before covid19 then you have no right to tell me I have to wear one to save anyone's life now from Covid-19.
OK. But a private business can require that you wear a mask if you patronize it in person. In my neck of the woods, every retail establishment, office, and other facility open to the general public requires a mask to enter. If that offends you, then don't go into those places.
The non-maskers are very selective in the freedoms they support:
1. It has to be their freedom for it to matter.
2. Shirt and shoe ordinances are fine, masks are not.
3. Seat belt laws are ok (now that they are accustomed to them)
4. They do not want others to be free to safely leave their homes to perform essential tasks
5. They do not want others to be free to drive impeeded
6. They do not want others to have the freedom to add ingredients to their food
7. Laws or EOs banning access to parts of the internet are fine.
It is an extremely narrow scope of freedoms they are "fighting for." They do not wish to be "uncomfortable" to aid in the preservation of the lives and wellbeing of others.
Anything you do to make them uncomfortable likely falls into this category of infringing on their freedom, but anything they do to make you uncomfortable (or in peril) is acceptable as they should be free.
Isn't that what freedom is all about? Trampling on others without repercussion? The non-maskers are very selective in the freedoms they support:

In almost every state in America women are legally allowed to go topless anywhere that a man can go topless. As a woman, would it be ok and would I be free to enter an American retail establishment, office, restaurant topless and naked from waist up? Stark naked? The same people who are so furiously offended by public breastfeeding of a hungry baby with barely any flesh in sight are largely the same people now up in arms to demand mask, are they? Or are they the ones to loudest claim freedom not to wear a mask and their right to enter private businesses maskless? If it is their right to go maskless wherever they well please, isn't it my right to go topless wherever I well please? After all, their unimpended aerosols can potentially infect and kill me, whereas my unimpended mammary glands can't and won't spread disease and death.
Why does it matter? For it to be a relevant parallel to this thread not only would I have to have not worn a mask, I'd also have had to pretend that doing so against the advice of medical professionals was because I fell for simplistic rhetoric about a niave definition of freedom which falls apart at the slightest bit of thought. And then in response, rather than be willing to discuss the flaws in my understanding of how rights actually work in a secular democracy, try to bring up some totally unrelated point about a completely different situation.
Good luck demonstrating I did that in the past. If you can't, then it really has no bearing on the current discussion.
I doubt anyone who has the slightest bit of understanding thinks the flu vaccine is perfect. Black and white thinking rarely seems to help with understanding reality.
