  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

it depends. she may have been playing too roughly, and broken them, off, or she may have just pulled at them a little too hard when she was preening. My budgies occasionally lose tail feathers too, but they always grow back pretty rapidly.

if this is concerning you, it can't hurt to take her to the vet.

I'd say it's probably pretty normal and you probably don't need to take him to the vet unless he's bleeding or in visible pain. You could always call your vet and ask just to be sure so you don't have to make an unnecessary trip. I have a Parakeet and he occassionally looses tail feathers. I think it's part of the normal molting process. Molting is when a bird looses old feathers so they can grow in new ones. If your bird is pulling his feathers out, that is probably something to be concerned about and is usually a result of stress. You can get certain sprays that are flavored like bitter apple that will help to curb this. But I wouldn't worry unless your bird is bleeding or is in visible pain. It should grow back pretty soon. :)
