Who Wants to be a Mod?

why? people can "say" anything if they want something bad enough.... you have a body of "evidence" through which I have answered probably every question you would want to ask..

Because, one of my questions to any potential mod would be-do you feel moderators should be held to a higher standard than regular posters?

Do you think I could find the answer to that question in your 1200 posts?

Why would you want them to be if you assume that all reports are prompted by errors on the part of posters?

I am assuming she would be interested in procedural matters and other matters of fairness rather than the doctrinal issues one would find in your posts.

Or I might not.

If you're against being interviewed, just say it. I'm not going to chase you around or stalk your previous posts on the OFF chance I might find the answer to that question somewhere.
I don't have any problem being interviewed.... that was not the point I was making.... but let me not muddy the waters....

Sure ask questions and let's see what happens...

if from my 1200+ posts here one cannot determine where I am on most things, then there might be a problem....

Rather than going through 1200+ posts, I'd rather just ask for an answer.

why? people can "say" anything if they want something bad enough.... you have a body of "evidence" through which I have answered probably every question you would want to ask..

I think it's good to both interview people and read their posts. That's what we as staff would do previously when people applied to be a mod. We would send them an interview questionnaire to fill out, and we would also look over some of their posts. Reading 1,200 of someone's posts is unnecessary, but you can get a good idea about them by reading a few pages of their posts and seeing how active they are in the forum they wish to moderate, how they respond to those with whom they disagree, etc.

My reason for wanting to hear the response to that question is two-fold, and I reserve the right to draw a two-fold conclusion from the answer.

Nothing is more dangerous than the idea that some public officials are above the law. If they are, then we don't have law -- and we won't have freedom much longer either. -Thomas Sowell

Some people have "find all posts" turned off. So evaluating them that way would be impossible.

Stormy has his turned on, but I still do not want to go hunting or rely on my memory for the purpose of interviewing.

And Stormy....you've got some huge muskles!

There is a proposal in one of the general CF wikis somewhere about mod nominees having to turn on the find-all-posts function. I'm not sure if that has been approved or not. If not, it could be put in as a forum-specific guideline. That would allow a fair evaluation of everyone's posts. On the other hand, some people oppose the idea because they think people should be able to turn off that function in order to guard against harassment.

Hey, that sounds like a great idea, but I would definitely have a problem turning on the "find all" function.

I have myself a bona fide stalker.

What are the qualifications of mods? Shouldn't the quality of having a healthy respect and maturity be one of them?

Sure we all go over the line sometimes. But it shouldn't be the norm. I don't believe Stormyone is a good candidate from the attitude demonstrated in his posts. Just look at his post history.

lol... yep, that attitude is a reaction to being told since I arrived that I am not a true adventist.... but hey, I am not campaigning for the job... having said that, you don't know me now do you?

No I haven't had any direct confrontations with him. But it doesn't take much to tell what he or you believe since people express themselves more openly on the internet (for lack of retribution) than in person.
What did they tell you about stereotypes and generalizations?
