Of the list of names I chose Mercury. Outstanding singer.

I have a special place in my heart for Van Halen though, both Roth and Hagar incarnations.

Another favourite not listed is Gary Cherone from Extreme. Awesome pipes. Interestingly I still have not heard a track from the Van Halen album with Cherone - all I know is everyone seems to have hated that album.

How could you leave out Ozzy Osbourne?

He may be a clown these days - actually, by my watch he's coming up on three decades of buffoon status - but back in his Sabbath-era prime, there was no voice more indelible than Ozzy's. Sure, he was no Bing Crosby, but that caterwauling foghorn-o'-doom had amazing strength and presence and - can it be true? - he could actually sing besides!

And I gotta make a place in the pantheon for Enuff Znuff's Donnie Vie. No better purveyor of Beatles-influenced power pop and ballads exists.
