I have been to florida quite a few times and I like it for short periods but would hate to live there.
I had a little lizzard in bed with me. You know those little creatures that climb the walls outside for sun. *Shivers*
What are those little creatures on the beach that about size of large spider?
They move very fast.
No I don't like florida.

St Augustine?
I was there in 1994 it was one of my favorite cities in florida and not too hot or cold.
Fairly small city and I remember going over a bridge with american flags all up and down it. I did like St Augustine though.
Is St Augustine the oldest city.. I seem to recall it is.

Hi Evee - crabs come in all kinds of sizes.

I have lived in Northern Florida for 2.5 years. So far, I like it better than Texas. Lots of trees in northern Florida, and we are only about a 2 hour drive from some very beautiful beaches. While I grew up in the North, and I do miss the changing of the seasons, I can honestly say I don't miss scraping ice off my car, and I enjoy seeing the sun on a regular basis. Up north, you can go for many days without seeing the sun. That's depressing.

Ok Evee, those crab spinder things what did they look like?

A. B. C.

A is a breed of sand flea they can get quite large about the size of a pinkie, they are smooth on top but have freaky little legs and fins that push themselvs along the sand. They are fun to hold, I like to pick then up by the handfull and let them tickle my hand, they are harmless. The other 2 are common sand crabs, some are large, like you might eat (blue crab size) others can also be small or even tiny.

And the lizards..

Are very friendly mean no harm and like socialization with humans. We have quite a few around the house, they get in and I let them right out. Also very harmless, good to keep ants, mosquitos and spiders away.

Oh they looked like spiders with longer legs they are running everywhich way on the beach. I live In Tn and we have a few lizzards here but they haven't got in the house yet.
I love animals but snakes and bugs and lizzards bother me somewhat.

Yes I miss the sun too.
I moved about a year ago from Indiana to TN and there is a noticeable difference in the sun.
We could go for weeks in winter without sun in Indiana.
Here lots of sun but it is cold here now.
I remember coming from St Augustine and Jacksonville was just up the road it seemed.
You do live in Jacksonville if my memory serves me.
It is kinda cool there today isn't it?

Yea it did take some getting used to with the little critters getting in. My cat loves to chase them, it is like a game to her, but I usually pick them up before she hurts them and let them out. We talk to them and help them out the door when she is out of the room. We are animal lovers. I get annoyes at the tiny tree frogs getting into the house and hiding, and then I move furniture to vacume and find a dried up one, yuck. Luckily they are less than an inch long so no biggie. I cant stand the huge spiders, the ones that are bigger than the palm of your hand, my parents get those all the time. And my mother has beeen stung by scorpions before, luckily those are small brown variety and do not do any real harm other than pain.
We do love it here, been going here since I was a baby, to the same town in fact. Being right in the middle is perfect because everything is a short drive away and we have tons of countryside and undeveloped land here too.

This is my fave place to go right on the other side of the lake from our house!

Hi jenm...Well if I had acreage and no traffic Jams it would be better.
I have dogs and cats and my nightmare would be a hurricane and I would lose one or more.
They are like children to me.
I assume there are places that there is no hurricanes though.

Well we survived all 4 hurricanes this year and our cat was fine, hunkering down with us. The neighbor left her dogs home and they ran away from the storm, but the animals were fine.
Our town had not had a hurricane since the 1930's so this year was very freakish. I do not know of any animals who died as a result of the storms, I am quite active with the humane socitey and animal control and other shelters and was also conserned after the storms, luckily some animals got loose, but the owners quickly claimed them.

Our cat is our other kid and we took very good care of her during the storms, taking her little feelings into consideration as well, trying to comfort her as best we could, but we really needed the comforting from her.

I can see a consern on your part though. This year there were few places that didnt get a piece of the storms because they enveloped the entire state. It was scary and we are still dealing with the aftermath, but I still wont move. IT is too pretty here and there is so much to see and explore in the natural world and in the sightseeing world..oh and theres shopping..;)

Jen...my cat is an "acquired" stray. We were all ready to pull out, to evac, and I let him out one last time. My middle boy MELTED down! He thought I was going to try to leave him!!! It took him about half an hour to finally come back...the whole while trying to comfort a hysterical 11 year old! AAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH LOL I showed up at my Mom's house with three kids, 2 dogs, and a cat. It was a LONGGGGGGGGGG week!

I like South Florida...It's my home. I know what y'all mean though bout the weather. No snow sux. I have never been good with cold mainly b/c I have always been a FLchick. Those hot mid-summer days out on the tennis court with the sun beating down on me sucking the energy out of my body....not always fun. But I dunno if I'll be able to leave. Anyone know what I mean? or am I just psycho. ~God Bless~

I love Florida but then I can go back to NJ in the summer when it gets really hot and the bugs grow to the size of oranges and the AC won't work anymore! :D

I love the town I live in - it's hilly and green with oak trees and horses and cows. Lakes and the Withlacoochee River. Truly beautiful!
