Hi there,

Who has more of a choice of Evolution, virgins or dying people?

Thanks.

Dying people, provided they have surviving children. Though actually evolution is not a human choice. But anyone with surviving children who can go on to reproduce themselves is contributing to the evolution of their species even thought they cannot choose how.

Maybe people can't choose right now, but some are trying to develop the ability to choose. If that ability is obtained, would it mean such choices are not evolution?

People developing the ability to choose what exactly?

That's interesting. I didn't know you were allowed to post here.

gluadys said, "evolution is not a human choice." What is evolution? If we go with the simple answer that it is descent with modification, then it would be a choice to modify our descendants (our children) - the implication being that it is a heritable modification. So if we choose to make a heritable modification to our children, is that evolution?

My bad, didn't notice it was Christian only, I will delete post.

Actually, humans have been choosing the course of evolution for other species, both plant and animal, for millennia. The planned breeding of dogs, cattle, pigeons, roses, corn, etc. is evolution directed by human choice.

The question is who would organize a similar course of planned breeding for humans? And who would accept matings on the basis of the genetic preferences of the organizers?

Whether or not it has happened - or the difficulty in making it happen - was not the issue.

It sounds as if you would say it was still evolution even if choices were being made.

Don't let glaudys distract you dude.

Glaudys is saying we make evolution a choice by breeding dogs, but that's not instinct that's survival, she's trying to take your piece en passant.

Glaudys if you had addressed the question directly you would have said evolving choice was or was not possible, not could or could not be made.
