I actually had a coffee with the guy who created that site once.

not me, that site is extremely depressing. its just a bunch of lonely people trying to convince themselves and others that the reason they have no friends and are lonely is because their autism makes them "too superior". i have aspergers and will never go near that awful site.

Now that I've posted there a while (same user name that I use here) I'm not altogether sure about it. Although I am learning a lot about the autism spectrum, and seeing that it applies to me, I see a lot of negativity, as Ultraviolet said. Also, the overwhelming majority are so non- or even anti-Christian (via a poll taken there) that I am not sure I am safe. I definitely have to stay out of the Philosophy, Politics, and Religion area.

I used to go to WrongPlanet up until I noticed what Ultraviolet mentioned. The site, for me, is pretty much a nasty hate vortex that sucks up everything and crushes it.

I don't mind religious criticism, either. However, there's a fine line between religious criticism and 'hurr durr krishtuns r dum cuz tey wershup nvizubul dood n teh ski' name-calling, ad hominem attacks, insult-flinging and general immature behavior because someone has a belief or viewpoint differing from others, which I found to be rampant on WP the last time I was there. \:

That was years ago, of course. It sounds like things still haven't changed since then. I'm glad I left that place.

I used to be on there as Namiko (I was one of the mods back in 2006-2007ish and one of the two who was open about being a Christian), but I left, mostly due to the strong anti-Theistic-ness that was around. I used to *moderate* the Politics, Philosophy and Religion forum, so I have NO idea what was going through my head when I agreed to that. I just haven't really felt like I needed to go back there since then, so I haven't. Amazingly, I still keep in touch with some of the friends I made while I was there.

I almost think it would be a good idea for us aspie Christians to be more of a presence on Wrong Planet. As Christians we need to be the light of the world like in Matthew 5:15.
I do use this forum as a sanctuary sometimes when I get tired of all the arguing on WP.

I agree. I reported inappropriate content on WP and it was handled in a matter of minutes and appreciated by the moderator.

Just wondering if any wives who have husbands dealing with aspergers would be willing or able to privately contact my wife via e-mail and give her some encouragement and hope now that we have discovered that I have this condition? She really needs some frank honest stuff - no christian fluff.
