When I read these kind of posts, I am so at peace with this information that I begin to wonder why I was Protestant.

It is clear that my posts are not needed here any more. Guess I have said all I have to say about respect for the Blessed Virgin and shown my loving appreciation for her in my life.

I am drawn to a new position, as reader rather than poster. I am inspired to read and study, especially the Orthodox Church. It would be nice to learn if I can find more harmony and peace in my adoration of God by
finding that I may have a place there, if only in my heart.

But if, for some other causes, I do not reappear, I shall have gathered the online links shared by those scholarly among us and spend a great deal of time inquiring after that special sanctuary I have searched for my entire life.

For this new path, I give thanks to CF Catholics and most of all, to the wonderful example of OrthodxyUSA.

May you all find peace, harmony, and light in your walks with Jesus.

Amen.

You remind me of someone years ago who use to debate Catholics and Orthodox relentlessly and he was pretty serious too, didn't crack a smile ever, and thanks be to God, he is converting to Orthodoxy.

Pretty amazing feet if you knew him, how adamant he was in his position of how he knew what the Church purports but just believe it's wrong.
See that is what bothers me. Perhaps I am in the wrong place but I have no real desire to debate. I left the Orthodox but I do not deny that Orthodox can be Christian. Nor do I deny that Roman Catholics can be Christian. I would much rather find what we agree upon and celebrate that than argue about why I disagree with you.

I think I'll just find another forum.

I do appreciate your explanations.

Not to drag this thread back up again, but I have to correct you- The Orthodox faith and the Catholic faith IS fully a Christian faith at all times. Just as Lutheranism is and all those various different contrasting 'bible only' churches are.

What bugs me is when ppl say Catholics can be Christan... we are always a Christian at every waking moment of our lives since the instant we are baptised.

We may not be following Christianity all the time and we may even deny it at times but all of the time, even when we are in denial we ARE Christian.

Even if we go to hell... we go there with the indelible mark of a Christian.

What book are you studying and which faith are you?
No church has all Christians in it, sadly ever church will have those whom will not be saved. If your not saved your not Christian.

Our Saviour said " my sheep hear my voice" if you follow His voice he'll not lead you to hell.

baptisms is a covenant we make with the Lord like circumcision is to the OT Covenant.

We make the covenant with God in baptism and he keeps his end up always even if we don't keep ours up.

When protestants baptize as a seal that they have saved themselves with their choice for Christ... if they go back on that and fall away, does God forget his covenant with them?

As long as you display your Staff Status in your posts, is it too much to hope that you can remember to provide members with examples of the best attitudes in the techniques of relating to other members?

Baptism is what makes us Christians, not formally accepting Christ or the sinner's prayer.

We can't earn salvation. we can't earn being made a Christian. This is God's gift to us. He does not take back his gifts.

But lets say for the sake of argument that a protestant says the sinner prayer and in return for that- God makes his covenant with him and he is 'saved'.

the person then falls into a life of sin and never returns. Did God revoke his covenant? Or did the person forfeit it?

If they go to hell, they will still have the indelible mark of God's covenant He made with them. They were redeemed by Christ's blood, they just rejected it.

And don't tell me that God's covenant is, you will never fall away and reject Him because the Jews sure did.

likely having your head sprinkled by a priest before your eyes have even begun to focus.
With that natural response of obedience... (edited by myself for charitable purposes)

now baptism saves? As John Hagee says, you can go down a sinner and come up a wet sinner if you haven't asked Jesus in your heart. baptism has NOTHING to do with salvation. It is the outward sign of an inward decision.
Amen sister!
I think Acts 2:38 is a favorite of the adversary as it promotes a false sense of security.
And those who think water baptizm is a key to salvation are dangerously close to denying the atoning nature of Christ shed blood on the cross.

Water baptism follows salvation as one of the first steps of obedience for the new believer.
