Coast Guard Officer Plotted to Kill Democrats and Journalists, Prosecutors Say

A Coast Guard lieutenant and self-described white nationalist who was arrested in Maryland last week was plotting to kill a long list of prominent journalists and Democratic politicians, as well as professors, judges and what he called "leftists in general," federal prosecutors said in a court filing on Tuesday.

Lt. Christopher Paul Hasson, 49, was arrested Friday on gun and drug charges, but prosecutors said in the filing that the charges were just the "proverbial tip of the iceberg."

Saw this on the news this evening. The name is kind of familiar, I think he has been in our office at some point. We work with the Coast Guard all the time.

His home was only a few blocks away from our office.

As a self described white supremacist, it seems odd that most of the people on his hit list were white.

Not sure what else there is to the story. Bad guy plotted bad things, bad guy got arrested by our awesome law enforcement, and soon I imagine bad guy will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Well, it wouldn't be prudent to just stop there... this guy might be part of a cell (no pun intended)... we should check out his family, his friends, his religious affiliations, and put everyone he associates with under the microscope... you know, just in case.

Maybe he considered them race traitors. A lot of identity politics people talk about that kind of thing. Their "logic" concludes that if you don't support their political ideology you must hate your own race and are betraying your race. There is a lot of nonsense out there. Luckily, if the facts conform to what we have been led to believe in this case (something one cannot ever take for granted anymore, unfortunately) , they caught this fruitcake before he was able to do any violence.

I'd say that's a safe assumption -- had this fruitcake already initiated a massacre, that's not the sort of thing the media ignores...

Amen to them catching him. He was foolish/helpful enough to do some of his searches on his Government computer; which is monitored. That was how they found him.
