White House displays yard signs of the 100 'worst illegal immigrant criminals' arrested in Trump's first 100 days

The White House lawn is lined with posters of 100 of the "worst illegal immigrant criminals" arrested in the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's second term.

"Good Morning from The White House!" White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X on Monday morning, sharing video of the posters, which say "arrested" at the top and appear to have a mugshot or other photo of the person followed by the label "illegal alien."

The bottom of the poster lists a crime the person is accused of committing, including rape, murder, sexual assault of a child, lewd acts in front of a child, and distribution of fentanyl and illegal guns.

This really is brilliant optics because it forces mainstream media to show the posters behind their White House reporters, or digitally blur the background behind those reporters.

Whatever one thinks about the validity of the message, I think it is just plain tacky to start hanging messages on the White House fence. Of course, it isn't any more tacky than wearing a ball cap with a dress suit. So, there is that.

I have seen flower bed edgings made from old bleach bottles and old tires used as planters. I have seen plastic pink flamingos and lawn jockeys painted white. I have seen Christmas decorations made from frozen pie pans. I have grown up around tacky. Signs on a fence doesn't come close. If anything, it's similar to the post COVID practice of displaying posters of high school graduates.

Being that hats of any sort for men are no longer common, a baseball cap and a suit doesn't seem as tacky as, say, a beanie with a propeller on top or beer-holder hats, or hats with clapping hands that move when you pull a string (see grown up around tacky above). Have seen the baseball hat and dress suit combo a few times. Since I favored fedoras and now cowboy hats, both for the brims, the closest I've come to a baseball cap and a dress suit is a watch cap in cold weather. Note that I will wear a white hat after Labor Day, so I'm kind of tacky myself. But it gets hot here, and I'm not about to wear a dark hat on a sunny, hot, day. and if that gives someone the vapors, that's just a little something extra. Baseball hat with a suit doesn't seem that different from a flat cap, except it would be cooler in hot weather.

Personally, I think the Fashion Police ought to have powers to deport a few people without due process. Tacky yard art can stay as a quaint part of Americana, I suppose. But when 47 has a rusted out Rolls up on blocks on the front lawn with weeds growing out of it, I reckon our descent into becoming a 3rd World country will be complete. In the meantime, make America well-dressed again. :sunglasses:

Have seen men wear new overalls, a white long-sleeve shirt, and a tie to church. Just saying...

As to tacky houses, there's a story about a man who wanted to put up a basketball goal for his sons, but ran afoul of the HOA. So the took the agreement, went over it with a fine toothed comb, and discovered the most amazing things were allowed. So it was he replaced his lawn with gravel, painted his house a garish color, and put up an assortment of concrete (and painted) yard ornaments. All an eyesore and all allowed by the HOA agreement.

It would be so sad if this story turned out not to be true.

All permissible as a matter of finances, availability, or preferences. As long as they don't wear a hat in church. Old rules: men uncover indoors. We all have to take a stand somewhere, and that is where I am making mine. :unitedstates: :)

(Said as a bald guy who wears hats)
