Hi, I'm thinking about buying a X-box game machine. Which game console would you buy?

Thanks, Robert

As far as games go, I like PC best. But PC doesn't get my vote because consoles are much more affordable.

Now as to which console I like best, that's a really tough question. XBox has Halo/Halo2, GC has Zelda and Metroid, and PS2 has the GTA series. Those are just my favorite console games; there are tons of other games on each system that I like. Honestly, I really can't decide. I have all three of them. I didn't get them all at once, of course. PS2 came first, then GC, and last XBox. That definitly doesn't put PS2 on the top, or the XBox at the bottom.

Guess I'll just abstain.

Xbox is overrated.

1) Of course its going to have specs that beat out PS2. It came out a full year after the PS2. DUH.
2) Most of their games are sub-par. With the exception of games like Halo, Kotor, and a few others, most of the Xbox games are cart overs from the PS2. Why? Because Microsoft needs product to continue to sell their Xboxes. If they didn't have Gran Theft Auto III, Vice City, upcoming San Andreas, and a slew of other games, do you think the Xbox would be doing nearly as well as it has been?
3) Most people don't play online games. Its a fact. The four million plus people that bought Halo 2 didn't buy it because of its online facto, but rather, because its a great fps.

Lastly, I'd like to point out that I've owned both systems for a period of time and I've played their best (and worst) games and I can safely say that, after the eye candy, most Xbox games loose the luster rather quickly. While the Xbox does make some really incredible looking games (PGR2, etc), most of them lack longevity (outside of RPGs and the Co-op Halo matches). I'd pick a PS2 over an Xbox not because of the graphics, not because of sound (because seriously, who gives two cents about how much better and clearer your audio system picks things up when most of the time you don't hear it anyway?), but because of the games. PS2 has the better games. And a bang load more, too.

"Now there are more things inside the XBox than you think that blast away PS2’s inner core.
• XBox has a CPU of 733 MHz
• PS2 only has 300 MHz.
A central processing unit (CPU) is a part of a computer that basically controls the rest of the unit.
• The Xbox graphics processor is a custom-designed X chip with 233 MHz
• PS2 has 150 MHz with its Sony GS.
The graphics processor is what makes the graphics look realistic
As you’ve seen so far, XBox is wasting PS2 in the technical stuff, but we’ve only just begun!

• The RAM on XBox is 64 MB
• PS2's is only 32 MB.
RAM is an acronym for random access memory, a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly; that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes. RAM is the most common type of memory found in computers and other devices, such as Printers.
• The polygon performance on XBox is 125 M/sec, and PS2’s is 66 M/sec.
Polygon performance is a low-level or operation from which higher-level, more complex objects and operations can be constructed. In, primitives are basic elements, such as lines, curves, and polygons, which you can combine to create more complex graphical images.
• Simultaneous Textures, XBox: 4. PS2: 1.
Simultaneous Textures-An all-digital technology for concurrent voice and data (SVD) transmission over a single analog telephone line.
• Storage medium, XBox: 2-5x DVD, 8 GB hard disk, and 8-MB memory card.
• PS2: 4x DVD, 8-MB memory card 1.5GB disc, and ½ MB memory card.
Storage medium is just how much memory the system has or can have due to memory cards, or in XBox’s case, the hard drive.
You probably are wondering why all the little technical features matter so much, the answer is: the more, the merrier. In other words, the more options you have, the better off you are going to be. Having all the memory and being able to compose the best graphical characters make XBox better than PS2. "

I got all that info from a web site somewhere awhile back when I had to do a speech. It truely shows that Xbox has twice as good of hardware than PS2. Its all fact too. I mod and work on Xbox's and I know my stuff when it comes to them. IMHO, Xbox is the best, and nothing less.

You have a good point about graphics and stuff but let me ask you this...
Would you rather buy a game with super nice graphics but the storyline and gameplay were horrible?
Or would you rather buy a game that has ok graphics and has great gameplay and great storyline.
I bought my PS2 of the games. PS2 overall has the best games. And don't go and say "Well Halo 2 is a really great game!!" I realize that but would you rather pay for the xbox and have one good game. Or a bunch of good games with PS2. PS2 have best RPG's and some really nice FPS. Such as the Final Fantasy Series, and Everquest, and also FF11 that is online. Good FPS are Killzone, Socom I and II, Call of Duty: Finest Hour(Is it on Xbox too?), and also other great FPS are coming out soon, such as Area 51,and Mercanies. Those are just some I can name of my head. PS2 also has the best platformers, Jak3, Jak2, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank UYA, Ratchet and Clank GC (or LAL), and also Ratchet Clank 1.If you have ever played any of these you know they are the best. Also the PS2 online community is great. For a fulll list of all Ps2 online games you can go to the playstation website at www.playstation.com. Click North America then hit Online or Online Games in the Nav bar. I think I have provided enough infomation for you to consider a PS2. Hope this helps!

Well, I'd have to choose X-Box since I already have a Gamecube and PS2. I wouldn't put any of the three above another one, because they all have their good points. I plan on getting an X-Box, since there's a few games out now that I'm interested in.

I don't know that I would say PS2 has the best RPGs but then I'm a PC gamer so RPG means something different to me than it does a console gamer. I remember reading what an awesome RPG FFVII was so I tried the demo for PC and didn't like it at all. It's what I had always considered an Adventure game. I'm not knocking the FF series, the gameplay and mechanics just don't appeal to me. Same with Shenmue 2. I heard what a great RPG it was so I ran out and bought it and it, too was an Adventure game.

The ONLY thing Xbox has going for it with regards to me is KOTOR 1-2, Fable and Morrowind. I'm not a big FPS fan so I don't care about Halo, etc. In my opinion (simply because of the MMORPG factor) PS2 is the clear winner.

I wasn't saying that the technical specs of the Xbox make it better. I was simply providing them to shed light on something that hadn't been already said. If you want my advice on actual gameplay, Xbox is still better. When I did my speech for my college class over which console was better I did a lot of research and one of the things I found was a 'top 100 games' site that was very reputable. I can't find it right now but looking at the top ten games (at that time) 5 were Xbox, 3 were PS2, and PC and GameCube had one each.

All of this just goes back to personal preference. I prefer Xbox yall might prefer PS2. Whatever the case may be it doesn't really matter. Because we should spend more time talkin' to God than playing video games. Lol :D

Sounds like you got a short in your power supply ;) Try reducing pressure (if there is any) on the power cable where it goes into the Xbox.

Hey, what happened to the post I made a few days ago? -_-

Hm, I used to have subscriptions to several gaming magazines some months ago, and I found that more than half the time the chart toppers for games of the month were PS2 and PS2 usually had a few more games on that list, due to the 7x more people that own PS2. So, to the person who looked up the "Top 100 Games" list, where'd you find that?

I think the controller is another reason for my preference for PS2. Don't know about you people (everyone won't agree on this, after all), but I find the DualShock 2 more comfortable than the GC or Xbox controllers; the only thing that's missing is trigger buttons where the L2-R2 buttons are placed.

And, yeah, go Super Nintendo! I found that I still like Super Metroid and Super Mario Kart more than Metroid Prime and Double Dash, so SNES still rocks.
