lol yes xbox is better in everything... xbox 2 next year ps3 to... i heard that ps3 can be used as a computer... xbox is unhackable if you have xbox live just what i heard...
2005 is when the prototypes will be shown at E3 (from what ive heard) 2006 is meant to be the official release.
and an xbox can use live if it is hacked, i will not go into details though.

also i prefer ps2, wider range of games, in some cases the graphics are better (yes i know that xbox has the better gfx system, but some ps2 games look far better then alot of xbox games, gran turismo 4 for example) and dont try and tell me that forza will beat gt4 in graphics.. it is nowhere near gt4.

but i will aknowledge that the xbox is a great system, a little too big for my tastes, but it is an excellent system.

big is desktop pcs, the xbox isn't that big, i think it fits in nice with my entertainment center...also i would argue on GT4 and Forza, but I'm not, because it's pointless to say one game will have better graphics when their not even out...also this thread has become a "sometimes" basis, sometimes game are good, sometimes not, sometimes they look beautiful on PS2, but then you have to take in consideration that most of the games you say look beautiful on PS2 haven't even come out for xbox...except one game that was scheduled and in development for PS2, Munch's Oddysee, originally it was supposed to be an awesome PS2 platforming game, almost supposedly giving playstation a new "character", well it turned out that the developers were unable to take it as faar as they wanted, hence they put it on xbox, what they had so far that PS2 was unable to handle, xbox still had room to run around with...ill agree some games look horrible on xbox, shenmue 2, for example, but some games look horrible and blocky on PS2 also...the thing is, you can argue and argue, and so i can i, but in the end, it doesn't really matter, it's all about the games a person likes, and to the guy above who asked about pinball:

yes there is a xbox pinball game, called pure pinball, gamespot, ign yeah they all say its a great deal for 20 bucks, photorealistic, and also xbox live enabled...they say it's the only pinball game on any console of the next gens, im not sure about that, i think ive seen others on other systems, and a previous one for xbox, but whatever...just check the reveiws

i think tho, that it's best if we try to simply put some facts out there and opinions and somethings to think about, because i love all the systems, they each bring me tons of fun throughout my boring freetime, i mean if im not playing zelda or donkey konga, which i find are very intrigueing games, im playing some Gran Turismo, and if im not doing that, then im playing xbox, and i play that 90% more then the others, cuz im a big FPS fan, also morrowind, and i feel comfortbale witht and i like the games, the ability to playwith my own music even tho i bought a stereo with a gameport whihc allows me to play a game with CDs, radio, or mp3s playkng in the background, anyway, yea, i didn't care for the DS either, i mean it was awesome, they just rushed it out the door with hardly any games, all of which suck, so until it has better games, im not even gonna bother, i played my brothers, but he just had this one idk it was wierd, doesn't even have metroid prime yet i don't think...

Okay, let's get several things straight:

I worded "better support" badly - the whole phrase is "better DEVELOPER COMPANY support." This is why Sony has more third-party games - and I'm getting to that.

Sony can compete with the Tom Clancy games and all the other stuff you mentioned, too:

FPS - Metal Gear Solid series can easily give Splinter Cell a run for its money, especially since the third one, Snake Eater came out. Try SOCOM II against all the Rainbow Six games, too - which one do you think most people will go for? I've never heard people talking about "owning you in Rainbow Six", but my friends talked about SOCOM a lot during the first several months of its release.

Racing - As mentioned above, Gran Turismo is still king of realistic driving games. Also, correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't Need For Speed come out on all three consoles? Since this can't exactly go in FPS, the Grand Theft Auto series also gives Sony a serious advantage by being exclusive to PS2 for several months.

RPG - Sure, Xbox has Fable and all that, and GameCube has Zelda, but with Everquest II and the Final Fantasy series, you'll find most hardcore RPG gamers have PS2s, if any console at all.

Sports - This is pretty even throughout all the consoles, because the third-party developers here tend to release their games for all of them.

Platformers - Ratchet & Clank, Jak, and Sly Cooper. 'Nuff said.

Fighting - Again, pretty even, for the same reason as sports games. Though, Xbox does have the DoA series, but I prefer the PS2 Dualshock controller for fighting games - Xbox controller = too bulky and awkward; GC controller = I never got used to it so the layout is strange to me.

PS2 was not a "crappy console" when it came out - the other consoles just had a year or more to make their consoles a lot higher in specs. And trust me, in this "age of technology" we're in right now, a year makes a huge difference.

Look at the stats, too - Xbox and GameCube each sold, what, 10 million consoles worldwide? I think PS2 had around 72 million or so. I enjoy playing a little Xbox and GameCube from time to time, but PS2 is my bread-and-butter for playing video games.

okay, each system has it's strong points, the rivalries are no different then car ones, mustangs compete with camaros and other sporty coupes/muscle cars, ford, chevy, dodge, there's a rivalry that will continue forever, this is because each car manufacturer has a different style, and each car has different specs, i mean it's basically you raise one number and lower another, and it still equals out, so if all cars and game systems start out at 0, each one can -1 in one area and add 1 in another, and in the end, they'll look totally different, and yet still be equal, how's that for algebraic equations, anyway, for me i prefer fords, mustangs to be exact, and for others its the camaro, for even more monte carlo, for those that can afford it the corvette, and still others the GTO and some swear by imports, although at stock they are all the same, well okay minus the corvette which will be our PC, anyway so the rest in non literal terms lets pretend are exactly equal...then games would be the parts, and for some people they like duel exhaust, for others they like adding a blower, still others adding a turbo, it's not really the starting thing that matters, i mean each system is pretty much equal, and just like some cars can handle different parts, some cars can't handle them, but they have their "thing" that can be equal to that, basically what im trying to say is with the dumb metaphor is that...it's not the system that matters, their all different, but they all equal out, and people have differences on gneres they like, just as some people like to rice out their cars, and some people like to actually do something worth while, and even the worth while people make their cars totally perform different...SOCOM and Full Spectrum Warrior are practically the same game if you take away the fact that they have two very different styles of how you play the game...is one way bad, no, do i prefer one way, yes, do you prefer another, maybe...i mean if you really think about it, video games and cars, have the exact type of rivalry and background, vintage games, vingtage cars, retro styling and remakes of old games such as pacman and stuff, and there totally modern cars, and the next gen consoles, and everybody argues, sibling rivalry if you will, and nobody is or ever will be right...

not only that, but a lot of people have trouble enough affording 1 system...im just lucky to have siblings in different age ranges who prefer different consoles...my sister bought a PS2, simply because at that time she had no idea Xbox or gamecube was coming out, she doesn't game much, but she wanted a DVD player, plus she games sometimes, and brother, when i wanted the xbox, decided he wanted a gamecube...he's littler...anyway my sister moved out, left the PS2 since her fiance has an xbox, decided she didn't really need it anymore since she was "growing up into a woman, and didn't think she'd play video games as much"...now she's a health nut, and plans on getting an xbox because it has this yoga, workout, health schedule, game...i don't know the name, but you make this person and they help you keep a diet, has recipes, workout tapes, all that good stuff to help keep or get into shape...anyway i got side tracked, unless ALL you do is game, and you have the money to, then it's pointless to buy them all, like you said you don't play gamecube very much, so you bought it for one single game, and probably beat the game and got bored, so that's a total waste of money, and lets say you bought it for 10 games, well there mmm, 150 or so maybe i think 100 now, plus 50 times 10...plus 150 for xbox, 150 for playstation, even 5 games for each lets say, 50 times 5, 50 tims 5, equals im sure i made mistake, but it's a little over 1000 dollars when a few games, all the systems are added in, add in that most people want multiplayer so add a couple controllers, memory card for gamecube and playstation 2, at 20 bucks each as well as controllers at 20, lets redo the math...say 2 cards for ample room, 1 extra controller for each... in the end, it come out to around $1,300 dunno about you, but that's a bit much for just myself, considering i have a car to pay off, and also gas, lunch money, oh wow, i don't have a family to feed yet, but that would cost a lot im sure, as i know i go through tons of food, i mean that's an average setup for gaming, but even bare minimum would be expensive...if ur gonna spend that type of money, buy one system, bunch of games, all controller ports filled, good sized TV, great surround sound, but hey not my money ur messing with

Everquest II? Did you mean Everquest Onine Adventures or do they have EQ2 for PS2?

I'm not offended by either comment.I didn't buy them all at the same time.XBOX 1st,Gamecube next year,PS2 this year.I bought PS2 to play Silent Hill 1 because I just had to play it.Got the Gamecube for my kids cuz I hog the XBOX.;) No,we're not rich.Far from it.When you space out the purchases like I did,it's affordable. Now when there's a game that comes out,we know we can play it.No more restrictions because we don't have a certain console.Games are our main entertainment source. Thereby it is justified.

Calm down Dastangman!;) :p

actually the japanese and chinese versions of GT4 have been released in asia.
im not saying that forza is a bad game, just from the latest demo build it still doesnt have the depth of GT4, the car models in forza are great, but the colouring is poor making the cars look kind of cartoony. and from what ive seen some of the tracks on forza arent right..
