  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which bible?

Your thinking are very rigid, everything has to have a physical weight, even the law?? The law written on our heart is like a computer program, it weights nothing but it surely exists and runs.

Okay.

There is a unit of measurement for that too.

How many bytes in the computer program?

Various, depend on the program, and they are weightless (referencing to your post about the law should have a weight that you can measure :) )

Once again: something "written on the soul" must use some sort ink.

How much does that ink weigh?

I am trying to help you make your case, why the avoidance?

If the writing is more like a program, exactly how many bytes does it have?

Once again, I am an ally here: I am giving you tools to make your argument rational and reasonable.

The other route, as I said, is much harder work for you.

Thanks for the help, but I think it is you who needs more help to understand this. I don't know excatly what a soul is, but I believe it is more or less like a program, it depends on hardware, runs on hardware and affects the hardware, but has no physical weight (not ink and paper, but magnetic or electrical pulses).

About your question of how many bytes does it have, I have no idea. It is like you asking me how many bytes does windows OS have, sorry, not even Bill Gates can tell you :)

Okay.

That was the simpler way to prove the claim that an absolute morality is present in the human soul.

So I guess you prefer the other way. If so I have some questions for you.

You said:

The law written on our heart is like a computer program

Can you demonstrate that:

1. there is a soul?

2. programs can be inserted into a soul?

3. god exists (as a god is needed to do the programing)?

4. god is interested in inserting programs in souls?

5. god can insert a program in a soul?

(Note: this is not the same as 2, which is the general "souls can have programs inserted" as differentiated from the specific "god can program", which requires we demonstrate that god can develop a program and has the tools available to devleop the program and insert the program in souls).

6. absolute morality actually exists.

7. god inserted an absolute morality program in all souls.

You have some work to do.

Nope, all others (soul, morality etc) are all theories and can't be proven or unproven.

However I am very certain that something supernatural exists, that is truly random, and it is the bases of intelligence, that can interact with this world.

The reason is because (as I said again and again) I see no evidence that computers can ever archive our level of intelligence.

It's gotta be the Koran, apparently that thing was divinely dictated by an angel, although you need to read it in the Arabic.

Or else the book of Mormon again also divinely dictated by an angel.

All us Christian's have is the Jewish back catalogue and a big bunch of first Century post it notes, pulled together by a harassed group of highly untrained converts.

My copy of the Qur'an is in English and Arabic.

It has a lovely binding too.

I think you'll find that it was dictated by Joseph Smith, who may have been angelic (but not an angel).

Sounds about right to me.

Ahh yes I remember, it was just written by the angel Moroni on golden plates that were then translated into English By Joseph Smith using his 'umin' and 'thummim'.

If you read the Bible carefully you will see its message is remarkably unified, Old and New Testaments, which speak of the Saviour we need.

Just to clarify, what we Christians have is essentially two 'testimonies' for want of a better word.

The 'testimony of the saints' i.e. the stuff the first Christians said about about Christ (The New Testament), and by continuation the stuff Christians have said about him throughout history and continue to say about him today.

and

The 'testimony of the Holy Spirit' i.e. to confirm and draw attention to the stuff that Christians say about Christ.

And that is pretty much it.

From a Christian perspective there is is really only one theme in the bible - Christ, Old and New testament all points to him and tells us abaout this person who in turn is the exact representation of the unseen and unknowable God eternal.

So Christ testifies to who God is, we testify to Christ, and the Holy Spirit testifies to us.(kinda dependant on us holding up our part of this)

So, which bible is the original one then?

Because the book of revelations in the NIV says "scroll" and the same book in the KJV says "book".

The original New Testament is Greek, of course, and the Greek word "βιβλίον" can be translated either as "book" or "scroll."
