Where should I go to college?

Does God care about which college I choose or what I study? And if so, then how am I supposed to figure that out? I would love to do what I am genuinely interested in doing, but not at the cost of being outside His will...is going by what I am interested in doing/studying a sign of God directing me or is it just me being selfish?

I won't give you any specific advise myself, but I highly recommend the following resource to help you make your own decision. Greg Koukl, founder of Stand to Reason, has an excellent lecture on the subject of "Decision Making and the Will of God". Unfortunately it's not free, but its quite inexpensive, $10 for the MP3+PDF version:
https://secure2.convio.net/str/site/Ecommerce/1583899502?store_id=1161
If you're serious about wanting to know how to make solid choices, I suggest you check this out. :) It includes his lecture, study notes, and also the Q&A session after his lecture. (The third item on the list is the mp3s ... the first item is a long book on the same topic by another author which I haven't read but I assume must be pretty good also.)

As I go about making more and more descisions like this, I'm begining to find that God cares much more about the type of person you're becoming than he does about what you specifically chose to do or not. Go to whichever college will make it easier for you to be the person God created you to be.

Yes, I have heard of Master's Commission, and I know quite a few people who've done it.
It's ok for some people, but I could never do it.

I don't think God always gives us a big, huge sign that says, "Here! I want you to go here!" Oftentimes when He speaks to me, it's in a still, small voice. It's a voice that just gives me peace. A lot of times I have to think, pray, make lists, cry, etc. when I try to make a big decision. And a lot of times, God gives me a peace in my spirit that lets me know my decision is cool w/ Him ;)

You know what, I'm finding that there are times God has SPECIFIC directions for us in our lives, but life is VERY much like a multiple choice test...

you know, those tests that say "choose the BEST answer?" School taught me that means there can be more than one right answer, but choose the one that is BEST for you! There's always a BETTER choice, but it may not be best for YOU. This is where, you must choose what is best for YOU and your RELATIONSHIP with God.

I was so worried in going to a secular university that it would suck me in and take over my beliefs...but I'm happy to say that it's so much more of the opposite...being there and being involved in ministry has totally opened up my mind to how terribly lost the world is and had grown my heart for reaching them. The Lord will always have a plan...just make yourself available!

That's great! I agree -- it's sometimes easier to move freely when you know who you are, and don't feel pulled by others' definitions of what you should be. If you know everyone around you is different, then you don't feel as obligated to conform, and it's a treat to find Christians.

Good advice. Yes, God cares, but if you haven't heard a specific direction, then He cares about you making wise choices.

Moses knew he couldn't stand being part of what Pharaoh was doing, but he didn't have another career plan... he ended up tending Jethro's sheep. That probably gave him skills for later being a good shepherd of people.

The apostle Paul made and repaired tents. Great men of faith in the Bible did what it took to support themselves, and care for their families.

There is a strong trend in this economy to use community college as a base for further studies. If you don't know what to do yet, get a strong foundation in general studies, and get ideas from friends in your classes. Take one or two exploratory classes off track, and chalk up the losses to good experience.
