It's not a literal tree, it is a spiritual tree which represents the Father. If you want to eat of the tree of life you eat the flesh of Jesus and drink of his blood (John 6:56). Jesus is the tree of life and the Garden of Eden is the Kingdom of God which is within you when you are born again (Luke 17:20-21)!

Kenotaxy [means "recent arrangement"] is my fancy term for Dormant Gap. There is an unspecified amount of time between Genesis 1:1 & Genesis 1:3 [a.k.a. Day 0]. But there was not yet breathable air [Day 2] nor dry land [Day 3]. Earth could not yet accommodate biological life as we currently understand it. And we have no basis to speculate aquatic, biological life in that time-frame, either. (Even aquatic life requires air to breathe.) And it was really dark, too.

"Day 0" could have been a millisecond or a millennium. We just don't know. From Genesis 1:3 going forward I am in agreement with the YECs.

It wouldn't have required angels with lightsabers to guard it, if it wasn't literal.

They do guard it that's why you can't find it without Jesus. The flaming sword is God's word which is the written law and condemns people of their sin and prevents them from entering the Garden of Eden. It is the veil that covers the heart of sinful man.

Later on we read...15The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

Ez 28:13 You were in Eden, the garden of God;

The tree is a literal tree with spiritual meaning.

It seems logical to me Eden was destroyed in the flood along with everything else. So presumably the tree of life was buried with it. Does the Bible say anything about this? Kinda, yes, in Ezekiel 31:

Apparently where Edom was located was the physical location.

Yep so the Land of Eden would be the whole area on the map
Eqypt to Ethiopia, to Mozambique
The Garden of Eden in this example would be the Rift Valley area.

It hasn't been proven to be.

Could be--but it definitely is about Pharaoh.

Eze 31:2 'Son of man, say unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: whom art thou like in thy greatness?

Eze 31:18 To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shall thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth; thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with them that are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.'

Your Revelation 22 verses are the key. Chapters 21 & 22 describe symbolically the new Jerusalem coming down to the new earth (21:1). How do I know that it's symbolic of a spiritual reality? The city is dressed in a wedding dress, symbolic of the Old and New Testament people of God (the names on the gates and foundations). So the final kingdom in a new universe has the "tree of life," the source of eternal life, who is Jesus, the way and the truth and the life (John 14:6). Also, before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, he said that he is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25-26). Therefore, the tree of life takes on great meaning in the New Testament pointing to Jesus and his resurrection along with our future one.

My advice is don't spend so much time concerned with where it is as much as growing that life within you through Jesus by the Holy Spirit's power from God the Father.

The original Eden was washed away by the flood as was much of the ecosystem of the ancient world.

Where is Eden?
Use The Tree of Life as a pointer because it still exists and is still in the LOCATION of EDEN.

I actually believe that Eden is below water in the Mediterranean sea. Like many posters here, I've heard of lots of clues about Mesopotamia etc. and Asia minor and many of those areas have many clues reminiscent of Eden like fertile soil and fruit trees growing wild. But Eden is near the intersection of 4 major rivers Tigris, Euphrates, and one coming out of Africa currently, if you try plot where these rivers might converge you get a place that is under water in the Mediterranean. Basically the geography greatly changed after the Great Flood.

Language regarding the trees is figurative. Eating of the Tree of Life meant to move nearer yet to God in the positive sense whereas eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil was to move away from Him, away from His godhood over and above them by an act of disobedience and disbelief. As we come full circle and begin to believe in God again now under the New Covenant where Jesus first reveals the true God as He's never been revealed before, then we enter relationship or communion with Him within which we can begin to partake of Him as is the right order of things for man. Union with God is essential to our eternal life. This can only happen as man is reconciled with God through the work of his Son.:

"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17:3

This knowledge is that initmate and direct, personal knowledge referred to in verse 34 of the New Covenant prophecy of Jer 31.
