Exactly. And it's what dooms dad's claims completely. Dad is basically claiming that all of science is wrong. Everything. That we can know nothing about either the past or the future.

If that is the case, then we can't trust the Bible. We can't trust revelation. We can't trust any written document. We can't trust any intuitive feelings about the past or future. We don't know that dad was born. We don't know that dad's parents were born. We know, quite literally, nothing.

Now, if that's the nihilist, existential position he wants to take, that's fine; but need to realize that he is discarding the Bible in doing so.

Science doesn't know everything. Just like you don't know everything. Unless you know everything, in which case let me know what I did on June 4, 1993.

So lets have everyone take a chill pill.

I personally believe in Matrix-ism whereby the makers of the Matrix were actually enlightened beings who made a movie about the real reality. Quick take the red pill!!!

Even if you don't believe findings from scientific research to be reliable or true, it is not nice to wave people's positions away in this way. People on this forum should give you the consideration of trying to understand your position. You should extend the same courtesy.

The distance is gauged by what we would expect if it was what it appeared to us here. But it may not be anything of the sort. If it was 72.1165437 th of a light year unit, and the state was different there than here, it would appear much further than that to us, who assume a same state all the way.

How long does it take for light to travel from that galaxy to Earth?

I'm not seeing the connection here -- assuming God is capable of rolling up the heavens like a scroll, why would that affect the distance of the Andromeda Galaxy?

That depends if there was a distance to it that we knew. To know that, we would need to know if space and time and laws and forces and light were the same there. All we see is stuff coming in the little realm that man knows. What is the method that we use to determine what we see is what the far universe totally consists of??
