No, but speed is distance/time. Light speed is a constant. It takes 2.5 million years for Andromeda's light to hit your eye. They call it a "light year" because it is the distance that light travels in one year. (light speed is also represented by the letter 'C', as in dad's avatar)
Starting here: 1142 I watched and took notes of a video that I told myself I would discuss with someone who asked me to watch.

I exhausted myself trying to debate this issue -- and I told myself that I would never again spend this much time with someone trying to get them to see my point-of-view.

That thread is the single biggest reason I keep [most of] my answers very short, or just plain stop replying (what I call "read only mode" or "virtual ignore").

Science is deeper than that.

Science is a method.

The bible is not science. There is no method for learning. It gives you a conclusion (goddidit), with which you try to interpret and warp reality enough to fit it.

Science starts with making an observation, then questioning how it works, and works toward a conclusion.

Again - I showed you my evidence, where's yours?

If you remember, I was the one who came up with the waterfall analogy for you to better illustrate what you think in the discussion about embedded age. However, since there is no evidence to support any of this, the idea still only exists in your imagination. It's completely unscientific. What's worse is, it's a hypothesis you made up to satisfy another hypothesis you made up to satisfy another hypothesis, and so on, just so you can arrive at the conclusion in the bible.

This is why science needs evidence.

Yes, an excellent example -- for which I am thankful.
This is why science needs evidence.
Then hike on out and get some, and let the rest walk by faith.

John 9 should be required reading for anyone aspiring to be a scientist -- in my opinion.

This is analogous to "bible science", as you call it.

My dog can fly. (conclusion)

"But dogs can't fly."

Well mine does

"When"

When you're not around (unproven hypothesis 1)

"But your dog doesn't have wings and is too heavy"

Well, the laws of physics change when you're not around (unproven hypothesis 2 to support hypothesis 1)

"But you canna' change the laws of physics!"

God can. (hypothesis 3 to support 2)

etc...

We show you guys evidence ALL THE TIME. You guys show us NONE.

So what you're basically saying is: Science can take a hike because AVET doesn't believe in the reality of evidence.

Which reminds me.... dad... I showed you mine.. Where's yours?

Remember that AV is proud to be ignorant and have no evidence to support his claims.

Nope

Distance ≠ Time
How far away is the Andromeda galaxy?
How long does it take for light to travel from that galaxy to Earth?
How do you know this information? Is this information in The Bible?

How far away is the Andromeda galaxy?
About 2.5 million light years away.
How long does it take for light to travel from that galaxy to Earth?
It would take 2.5 million years for a photon leaving Andromeda to reach the earth.
How do you know this information?
I don't -- I take it on faith that light travels at a maximum velocity of C.
Is this information in The Bible?
No -- if it was, we would see C and the speed of sound being routinely violated when God is involved.

Tonight. Go outside. Look up. The further away stuff is, the further back in time you are looking. If it's a clear night, and you wait for the moon to go down to allow for optimal viewing, look in the direction of the Andromeda constellation and you will see the Andromeda galaxy. The Andromeda galaxy is 2.5 million light years away. This means that when you look at it, you are seeing it as it was 2.5 million years ago (the sign that Einstein is holding in your avatar explains why this is). Note how it holds it's spiral shape, and consists of billions of stars. This is impossible without gravity.

In short: 2.5 million years ago, gravity was STILL THE SAME.

I showed you mine, you show me yours.

 What am I missing?

Do you believe the light from the Andromeda Galaxy is traveling faster than 299,792,458 meters per second?

Do you believe that our galaxies were significantly closer (less than 6000 light years away from each other) 6000 years ago?

From where do you get this specific/detailed information?

I can actually answer this, though I obviously don't agree with it. AV believes that when God created the universe, he did so with the photons already in transit -- so they aren't ACTUALLY from Andromeda, but still represent a galaxy 2.5Mly away.

Yes. Crazy. I know.

How? Is it supported more than a Mother Goose explanation?
QCD and QED are the framework for the strong and weak force which have been supported over the past 50 or so years with evidence from experiments. Look at the wiki pages for more inforamtion.

No. You just aren't programmed for a response to thinking questions.

What thinking questions? Your questions are like when a child misbehaving keeps on asking "why?" to every statement no matter how fundamental your statement gets.

Big difference. Of course we have a reason God exists, He is well known and even on a personal level. Also, God is not claimed as part of a science claim, as the fundamental forces of the nature we know are.

What reason does god have to exist?

Proof?

Here.

How pathetic then. No one knows, or would dare claim to. Wow. I am up against a powerful thing here.

No one makes claims without evidence to back it up. That is how life works and courts too.

Why not? If the bible indicates a connection, I assume there is one. Science doesn't know one way or another.

Bible indicates a connection between stars being spiritual? Verse please

Now, if fallen angel's stars tended to move to the red shifted position from earth perspective, or some such, it would give new meaning to star color..:)

Fallen angel stars? Evidence for that statement.

But I don't know, and science doesn't know. God does know, so I will lean to His side.

God doesn't know either, so you are back to sqaure one.

Try God, He is quite a high.

He doesn't hide the

If you interpret a fool as being someone that doesn't believe in Satanic fairy tales, maybe. I don't think you have the spirit of the thing down pat.
Science consists of Satanic fairy tales?

This helps me understand the field of play discussions with you are grounded.

You refuse wisdom; you refuse knowledge; you refuse to learn.

The Bible says you are a fool. I've got lots more quotes that show how wrong you are.

You don't want to tangle with me on the Bible, dad; I know it better than you do. :crossrc:
